A secret to hide

School awkwardness

The whole day Pinkie was acting weird. Fluttershy asked several times if she was fine, and she just said that she still felt a little sick from yesterday.
"Well, then you should see the nurse." Fluttershy said
"Oh, well I need to do something first."
"Okay.".
Pinkie was waiting until lunch to ask Rainbow dash why she skipped. The seconds turned to minutes and minutes to hours and pretty soon it was lunch time. Pinkie rushed through the line, because you have to go through the line, and sat in the same spot as the day before. Fluttershy eventually caught up to her and said "Well, you're still as fast as before.". Pinkie paid no mind, and instead waited for dash. Applejack arrived 0.4 sec
Before dash, but neither of them cared, which they usually did. Re rainbow sat and picked at her food with her hoof. Aj ignored it and tried making a conversation with her. No luck. Pinkie didn't take her eyes off the scene. It killed her to see her so sad. She liked making ponies happy, so she got up, leaving Fluttershy mid-conversation, and asked Rainbow "Hi Rainbow dash is this seat taken?" And points to the chair next to her. Rainbow shakes her head, trying not to make eye contact. Pinkie nodded and sat. She looked at Dash and memorized all of her details.
Her rainbow mane, her magenta eyes. The way her muzzle scrunched up because of the face she was making. Rainbow did her best not to make eye contact, but couldnt help but make a few glaces. She smacked herself mentally. "What are you doing dash!?! You're not a lesbian, right?" She told herself. Then, to check she stared back at Pinkie.  She saw her lips move, but heard nothing come out. "Can you repeat that?" She asked. "I said, how come you abandoned us at the cafe yesterday?"

"Oh, well I guess I was just kinda bummed from losing ya know?"

"I get that, I hate losing baking competitions, but..."

Pinkie leaned in close. Rainbow felt her breath on her muzzle. The thought made her blush.

"I could've cheered you up Dash."

Rainbow held her breathe for a minute. Then she grinned a little.

"You've never called me Dash before." Rainbow dash said.

Pinkie stared at her, awkwardly, then looked away and said 

"I guess it just came out. It felt so natural. If you don't want me to call you that then..."

"No Pinkie, I don't mind."

"I do! That's AJ's thing. I should call you a different name."

"Okay, what is it?"

After about a minute, Pinkie spoke 

"I know, Dashie!"

"Dashie?"

"Yeah, Dashie."

"Why tho"

"Because it's cool and cute, like you."

"Rainbow blushed, then grinned.

"You think I'm cute?" she asked slyly.

Pinkie's pupils grew small. After relizing what she said, she tried so very hard to take it back. 

While all of the hulabaloo was going on, Aj rolled her eyes and moved to sit next to Fluttershy.

"I think they like each other. What do we do?" She asked fluttershy

Fluttershy shrugged and the bell rang. 

Rainbow dash and Pinkie pie were too distracted to notice, and finally saw that everypony was gone. 

"Everypony's gone Pinkie."

"Oh, we should get going."

The two walked out and before they went their separate ways, Pinkie grabbed Rainbow's arm. Her face was beet red, nonetheless she went for it. Once she saw Rainbow's head turn in the corner of her eye, she leaned in close. It took her about 0.0007 seconds of hesitation before she decided that there was no turning back. Their lips locked for a short while, but it felt like a millennia. Once they parted, Pinkie was already running down the hallway. Rainbow looked at the clock and started to run too. After 2 minutes of running, plus the stress, she got detention.

Once she arrived, a cotton candy ponies started violently waving at her. A smile crept on her face. At least Pinkie was there, and that was all she needed to feel happy. They passed notes the whole time, even when the teacher separated them, because of the giggling.
