unnecessary fear.

My eyes shot open and I felt my heart racing. It was becoming light outside and I could hear the birds. Very faintly, I could still remember the horrors of the nightmare I just had. Something that's been happening a lot more lately.

Dreaming the same horrors of running away, being chased and always afraid. Ironic and very fitting I guess. Never fails to amaze me how I ended up like this.

I looked up at the dusty clock on the wall across the room and sighed. Still early.

8:47am

I looked beside me and saw jimin sleeping calmly. He looked so calm and loving peaceful. How did we end up here?

Most morning he wakes up later, around 10am. That's around the time he wakes me up. Maybe I could try leaving. Earlier last night when he went to get me water, I don't think he locked the door.

My heart started racing as I looked at the door and saw it slightly ajar. Oh my. I could actually leave right now! As long as he didn't hear me. Well I'm taking my maybe only chance at freedom.

I slowly lifted the duvet off of me, turing back to make sure he was still asleep. I had to be so quiet. I carefully stepped onto the wooden floors.

No sound.

I shifted my weight to stand up and thankfully it made no sound. I quietly stepped away from the bed and began walking towards the bedroom door. I saw a hoodie hanging on the door and grabbed it.

If he doesn't kill me, the cold definitely will. I stepped outside the room and put on the hoodie. Looking around the halls it was incredible dark even though it was the morning.

I had some sense of direction in this place as I've been here for a while now. I knew where the stairs were and that's exactly when I am going.

I tiptoed down the 3rd hall I had walked down and could finally see the bannister to the stairs.

I think I outdid my excitement because I unexpectedly tripped over a rug that was lifted from the corner, falling over myself.

I just prayed I didn't make a loud sound enough to wake him up. He was a light sleeper. I slowly got up and looked back in the direction of the room.

I heard a door close and my heart sank. He heard me.

"Yoonji!? Where are you?" He called out.

I began to sprint to the stairs as I heard him still calling out for me.

I ran down as quick as I possibly could, whilst trying not to fall. I came to the last few steps and saw the front door in front of me.

I'm so incredibly close to being free! The most alive I've felt in so long.

"Yoonji what are you doing!?" I heard him at the top of the stairs. I opened the front door and felt a wave of cold air hit my face.

I can't believe I'm actually free. I sprinted outside feeling the cold ground beneath my feet. I ran as quickly as I could because jimin was not far behind me.

It took me more than 10 minutes of running as quickly as my legs could carry me, to reach a road. I could finally see people.

He could still be following me so I had to keep on moving. And quickly.
