Chapter Four

Maddy's POV 

I stopped crying about an hour ago. It's about 2:13 AM. I walked out into the living room and found a light on, in the kitchen.

One of the boys must've been hungry. I walk into kitchen and I'm blinded.

"What the hell!" I screamed and a naked Calem turns around. He blushes and freezes. "Put freaking pants on!" I screamed and covered my eyes.

"I uh, sorry." He said and ran out of the room. 

I shook my head and went to the fridge. I heard the door open. I look over and find Ash.

"Um, hey." He says after a while.

I ignore him and grabbed a soda.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to act like a prick." He said and started walking a little closer. 

"Well you did! There's no way you can change what you've done!" I yelled and slammed the fridge door.

"I..." He stopped. "I want us to be friends." He said looking down at his feet. Friends? NO! I don't want to be just friends... 

"Are you serious?" I asked. He nodded and I dropped my soda. I hugged him tightly. "We can be the closest and bestest of friends." I said and cried on his shoulder. 

"I'm okay with that." He said and hugged me back.

Ash's POV 

I went to the park and sat in the grass. I was being a prick... I shouldn't have hit on her so much. I'm such an idiot. I felt a tear fall from my eye. 

I just sat there, silently crying to myself for hours on end. I left about 1 AM. I did however get lost on the way home. It wasn't until 2:20ish that I got home. 

I opened the door and Maddy was in the kitchen. I didn't know what to say so I just closed the door.

"Uh, hey." I said finally. She didn't even look at me. She just ignored me. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to act like a prick." I said.

"Well you did! There's no way you change what you've already done." She yelled at me and slammed the door of the fridge.

"I..." I stopped talking. I looked down because I started to cry. "I want us to friends." I said.

"Are you serious?" She asked. When I nodded yes, she gave me a tight hug. "We can be the closest and bestest of friends." She says. My heart broke as soon as she said that.

"I'm okay with that." I said and hugged her back.

"So Calum did that here too? It's so typical of him!" I laughed when Maddy finished her naked Calum story.

"Yeah. Wait, that's normal?" She asked shocked. I laughed and nodded. "Someone should've told me that before!" She laughed.

"Sorry we didn't tell you." I said and looked down.

"It's okay. I mean, it would've been helpful, but it's nothing." She said with a big smile.

Her smile is just amazing... 

"I gotta go to bed. I'm really tired." I said and got up.

"Hey Ashton." She said stopping me. I looked at her. "I wanted to know if you could teach me drums. I'm having Calum teach me bass, but I kinda want to learn drums too." She asked.

I smiled and said, "Sure, I'd love to." I went to my room and dreamed about Maddy.

Maddy's POV 

We're just friends... I was friendzoned... dammit! Why couldn't I just tell him! 

I threw the remote at the ground and curled up into a ball.

"Maddy? Are you okay?" Michael asked and walked into the room. I look up at him. 

"Michael, I'm so stupid." I said.

"No you're not." He said and walked over to the couch and sat down. 

"Yes I am! I'm also such a bitch!" I cried.

"That's a lie and you know it. You're really sweet and funny, and smart." He said to me.

"Michael..." I said and tackled him into a hug. "Thank you." I said and cried more.

"It's okay. Do you wanna tell me exactly what happened?" He asked and rubbed my back.

"I... I can't." I said sadly. Why can't I? 

"Okay, that's fine. I understand. If you don't want to tell me, I'm fine with that. I would have preferred if you would tell me, but I won't push you to say something you don't want to." He stated, sweetly.

"Michael, you're so sweet..." I said quietly.

"That means a lot coming from you." He said. It was a while before he said anything else. "Are we friends?" He asked.

"Of course." I said and looked up at him. 

"Oh. Okay." He said and looked sad.

"Do you not want to be friends?" I asked.

"No, it's just that..." He sighed. "It's nothing." He said and smiled. I scooted up and kissed his cheek.

"Thank you." I said. He blushed bright red and I laughed.

"I um..." He stuttered out.

"Hmm?" 

"N-nothing. I uh, gotta get back to bed. I'll uh, see you in the morning." He said and moved me off of him and ran to his room.

I sighed.
