He transferred the week before midterms, his name was Sora Suzuki. He had short, black frizzy hair, and he wore glasses. I didn't think much of him at first, just your average transfer student. His record didn't say much either. He introduced himself and told the class why he had transferred to this school, his parents were professor's so they traveled a lot he said.

"I hope all of us can get along and become friends." He said as he sat in the desk across from mine.

"Now class, as you're all aware midterm exams, are coming up so be sure to study hard," I say to the class as I walk towards the chalkboard.

I taught the class like I normally do and made sure Sora was following along with the rest of the class. He was doing very good, surprisingly, most new students have some trouble but he seemed fine. I continued the lesson until class was over and began packing up my own "homework". I was about to leave when I noticed that he was still sitting at his desk. He was looking out of the window it was raining, did he forget his umbrella or was he waiting on someone to pick him up?

"Suzuki, class ended about 15 minutes ago, is there something you wish to discuss?" I ask him as I approach his desk.

"It's raining, an I've seem to have forgotten my umbrella." He says rubbing the back of his head flustered.

"You can borrow mine, just bring it back tomorrow," I say as I go to get my umbrella.

I'm surprised for a brief moment at the sudden warmth of his hand grabbing mine. I turned around and noticed he was blushing slightly. He then got up, his hand still holding mine and said; "No that's ok, I'll just use my blazer as a temporary covering."

"I insist, it's just an umbrella, besides I'm driving home so I'm not worried about getting wet," I say looking at his hand.

"Oh sorry about that, I didn't mean to grab your hand like that." He says as he lets go of my hand.

He started to pack his things and after doing so he checked his phone. Did his ride home show up late or something? I guess that's why he didn't leave right away, that makes sense I guess. I put on my jacket, grab my purse and my work bag that had my laptop and lesson plans in it and said goodbye. He did the same and we went our separate ways.

I walk to the parking lot right outside the school and get in my car. What a strange boy, hope he gets home safe. I begin to drive out of the parking lot when I see him again waiting in the school courtyard. I guess his ride is running late, he'll catch a cold in this weather. I guess I could give him a ride home since I'm heading home now.

I pull up next to him and roll down the window.

"Is your ride late?" I ask him.

"No."

"Are they coming at all?"

"Nope."

"Do you need a ride home?"

He nods his head yes. I let out a sigh and unlock the car door. He smiles and quickly gets inside. What was his plan, to wait out the rain? He could have just asked me if he needed a ride home.

"Thank you, I thought about asking you if it would be possible to get a ride home, but I had already said goodbye." He says rubbing the back of his head again.

"Don't worry about it, part of the job is making sure the students are safe," I say to him.

I hand him my phone and tell him to put his address in. He does so then places my phone on the dash mount and starts the GPS. He lives about 15 minutes away from the school same as me. His house isn't too far away from mine either.

"So how long has it been since you moved to this city?" I ask him.

"About 2 weeks, it's a nice city." He says smiling.

"So Sora, is it alright if I call you Sora or do you prefer Suzuki?" I ask him.

"Sora is fine ms. Yamamoto," he replies.

We arrived at his home, it was a small 2 story house with a modest look. His neighborhood was quiet and there was a cat waiting outside by the front door. I parked in his driveway and took out a piece of paper and a pen; to write down my name and address.

"I live just around the corner. If you ever need a ride home or help with any of the assignments you know where to find me." I said handing him the piece of paper.

"Thank you, this will come in handy." He says as he waves goodbye.

I made sure he got into his house safely, before backing out of his driveway and heading down the road to my house.

Today was an eventful one. Now it's time to go grade papers. I plugged my aux cable into my phone and played my rainy day music as I drove to my home to drop off my paperwork.

"I'm home," I said aloud to no answer.

I drop my work off at my desk and plugged my laptop up to charge it. I then head to the bathroom to take a quick shower and change.

"Now what do we have that's edible," I say looking in the fridge.

There were; 3 beer cans, some butter, half a jug of apple juice, and 3 eggs.

"I guess I have to go to the store. I really don't want to eat instant ramen for the fourth time this week." I said going to my room and getting dressed in my street clothes.

I had put my black track pants on, with a sweatshirt that I had cut to look like a crop top, and my black and white Running shoes. I headed towards the door putting on my raincoat, grabbing my keys and umbrella and heading out.

"Being an adult is hard," I say to myself as I walk to the local grocery store.
