She Found Out

"Clare? Are you in there? Open this door right now young lady!" Uh oh, it was Mom.

I unlocked the door and Mom stepped forward. She didn't go farther from the doorway.

"Clare! What are these pregnancy tests doing in your purse? Oh hi Eli." Mom said in a very strict way.

"Hey Mrs.Edwards" said Eli feeling awkward.

Mom yelled,"Clare tell me what this is doing in your bag this instant!".

"They're pregnancy tests, i'm pregnant." I said. I was really worried about what Mom was going to do next.

She dropped the tests, and put both her hands out her mouth.

"Clare bear why didn't you tell me?!" Mom asked.

I said,"I don't know!" I started crying.

Mom said,"Come here" She had her arms open.

I walked up to her quickly and hugged her tight.

"Is the baby's father Eli?" She glanced at him in a nice BUT mean way.

I mumbled,"No it's Drew's" She knew who Drew was and I she would probably say why him why not Eli.

"Drew? Drew Torres?! Why not Eli?" Mom asked.

"Uh I also have something else to tell you. Eli and I did it too. Last year though." I said.

Mom said,"I do not want Drew in custody. I trust Eli. I need to call Darcy and your father."

She left and closed the door.

Eli said,"See, I told you I can be in custody".

I said panickly,"Oh no, Darce is coming. What is she going to say. I haven't seen her in 3 years, and Eli you cannot be in custody."

He asked,"Why not? Your Mom wants me to."

"Eli, did you forget about your dream? New York? You did a lot to get into NYU and you need to be done if your going to take care of this child.

Eli asked,"How are you supposed to go to Columbia?".

I replied,"I will just ask Darce, Mom, or Jake to help out."
