Post traumatic stress disorder
PTSD Is displayed in this chapter.A world without is, well - quite bizarre. Each day that I awake, all my eyes can see is an endless room of white, a piercing, blinding, white. It's so mundane, so intense, so much that I almost feel that I am forced into sensory overload. As I look out the window and I see something I've never seen before. Something so indescribably beautiful, I'm absolutely mesmerized. It's more than white, its hue shows colors that are also, blue, green, and brown all in the most abstract of places so...
"Briiiingg", with a heavy sigh, I digress as my internal monologue is interrupted by the shrill chime of the school bell.
"That's all for today, class. Don't forget to read The Space Experience by Jedi Grime!" Mr. Roslyn calls after my classmates who have already jetted out the doorway. After packing my things, I began walking behind the lunch crowd when he stops me.
"You know, Liori, your grade in my class is, well, less than satisfactory. I hope that you will at least try harder on your tests and homework going forward! You have the semester to make improvements. Maybe come in for tutoring sometime?" He -, Mr. Roslyn, looks at me with a hint of concern, as I let his words of worry hang in the air, responding only the pause of my usual silence.
His shoulders sag with defeat as he walks back to his desk "Have a good lunch," he says to me as I walk out the door. In this moment, I breathe.
Looking onward into to the painstakingly occupied halls of Stans Berry Early College, I think, then I hesitantly step into the hall, and am suddenly consumed by the crowd.
Walking down these halls gives me a headache. Emo outcasts here, preppy rich kids there, and the insufferable school staff all over. For everyone but me, today is filled with the excitement of tomorrow's impending freedom from school until next year. I, however, am off to England institute for reasons unbeknownst to me.
My locker is all cleaned out, and my things hastily packed away, when the snicker of some girl rings out from behind me.
"Well if it isn't my favorite little pest " sneered Lucia, she sounded like a snake hissing a warning before it pounced, she slammed her fist against the locker next to me making me flinch in fear. Glaring at me she continues to rant in my ear about how awful I am until I close my locker.
"Are you done now?" I think to myself, taking a quick glance at her only to see the principle coming at a fast walk towards us.
"Mr. Roth may I talk to you for a few minutes? "He asks, I nod closing my locker I send a nasty glare to Lucia before I head off. Seeing Mr. Clouse down the hall I head over to him taking into account his nervousness as he fidgets with his tie.
"Ah Liori I assume you probably know what this is about..." he paused then remembered that I'm mute and continued
"Your test scores are so low that um...uh.*sigh* I don't know what to say..." he looks at me, I can see the concern welling up in him threating to come out any moment, but he holds it back with some effort.
"I just...I really wish you would speak some days, it would make life so much easier for everyone around here. just have a nice summer " He says then walks away, I look on as he walks away shaking my head I turn and walk out the school doors, put in my earphones and began the long walk home.
-------Some time later-------
As I walk up to my house I can hear some commotion going on inside from my parents arguing again, most likely over money as they always do. Opening the door I walk inside starting up the stairs to my room when they call me down again.
