Seoul 1922
It was quite the lonesome day as the rain cascades upon the city, drenching anything and everything that it touches. The streets were bustling with pedestrians, all seemingly trying to get from one place to another without getting wet from the rain.
Upon that mass of pedestrians was a young woman in her early twenties with brown hair, tied up in a French braid, caramel skin that gave her a glow, and round glasses that frame her brown eyes which were entrapped within the pages of her book.
"And as the beast laid eyes upon the hunter...." Incoherently she says as she reads the pages in her book, too engrossed to pay attention to her surroundings to notice the odd stares from those who pass by her.
After all, unlike most women, she wasn't wearing a traditional Hanbok or a dainty dress. She was wearing a button-down white blouse tucked neatly into khaki brown pants and black hiking boots that had mud stains from walking in the woods earlier that morning. To top it off, she had on a large brown trench coat and a safari hat a foreign traveler gifted to her at the market.
In short, she looks like she was going on a safari run rather than going for a stroll.
"Lady y/n!" someone calls out to her, catching her attention as she momentarily looks away from her book.
A young man in his late teens runs up to her with a wide smile. He is tall, about a few inches taller than her, and has such a boyish charm that it made the dimples on her cheeks appear as she smiles at him. "Lady y/n, your father is looking for you." His smile falters at the grim expression on her face.
Of course, her father would be looking for her, which was the main reason why she decided to take a stroll in the rain rather than deal with her overbearing father, who I may add, is the Governor of Seoul.
"What does he want this time, Soobin?" she asks the aforementioned male as she closes her book and slightly adjusts her framed glasses on the bridge of her nose.
Soobin gulps lightly, a drop of rain slides down his cheek as he runs his hands nervously through his hair. It burdens him to have to seek her out, but being the governor's errand boy has its ups and downs and this was one of them.
"He didn't say much. Only that he needs to speak to you about an important matter."
With such a vague response, y/n couldn't help but sigh and look up at the clouds above. "Please give me patience," she mumbles to no one and looks at Soobin with a strained smile. "Fine, if father insists on talking to me, then I better go before he decides to send his bodyguards to retrieve me."
"My apologies lady y/n. I'm only following the governor's orders." Soobin bows respectively to her and waits for her to leave with him.
Giving a light scoff, y/n feels this is unfair as she follows Soobin back to her home where her father awaits.
++++
"This better be of great importance." She says to Soobin as they enter her home and make way to the governor's office.
They reach the end of the hall where two large oak doors stood before them, just beyond those doors the governor awaits them. Faintly she could hear voices, one was her father while the other she couldn't tell who it was.
"Good luck." Soobin whispers, stepping forward and opening the double doors, allowing her to walk inside.
Y/n smiles softly at Soobin, but then it falters as she steps inside her father's office to see him having a conversation with his right-hand man and loyal adviser Jung Hoseok.
