Natalia leaned her head against the cold window, watching the rain pouring into the city in this bleak morning. She brought her knees to her chest while she was sitting on the diy window sofa. Tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Natalia, honey," her mother began, letting herself into her daughter's bedroom without knocking - as always. "You know how I fired that incompetent maid and how we're going to do things ourselves for the next two days? Hmm? I bet you do because I've spoken to you about it," the older redhead talked while she was typing away on her iPhone, already adorned in silk black pants, a gold blouse and mad black stilettos. Natalia looked at her and rolled her eyes as the beautiful woman went on, "Do your bed."
Natalia stood from the sofa and crawled back into her king bed, burying herself underneath the duvet. Her mother averted her attention from her cellphone for once and looked at the younger redhead. She sighed. "You can't act all depressed from something that's your fault." She snapped. "Deal with it. You didn't decide to get back with him and marry the son of one of the most riches men in the country."
"No, this is all your fault!" Natalia sat up and threw her pillow at her mother's feet, making her flinch. The older woman saw the tears that stained her daughter's pretty face. "Maybe if you didn't make this about money, I wouldn't have a hard time with this! If I tell him I love him, am I doing it for you or for myself? What if it's both? I can't want him for money, that's disgusting. I have my own damn job."
Her mother stared at her incredulously, her mouth gaped open. "I can't believe it! Are you actually in love?"
Natalia groaned, "Whatever." And buried herself back under the duvet, making a caccoon for herself.
"So this isn't about money anymore." Her mother said faintly, a small smile plastering on her lips. She walked to the foot of the bed and started pulling at the duvet. "You need to go talk to him!"
"No!" Natalia whined.
They wrestled with the duvet but her mother was winning. Natalia gave up with an outburst. "I'm confused, ma! I just want to make sure that if we do get back together, I'm not doing it for money!"
Her mother softened her face in a motherly manner. "Oh honey. You'll know. You will know."
Natalia roughly wiped away the tears that were spilling down her face, sharpling exhaling.
"Do you love him unconditionally?"
"Of course I do." Natalia sniffed.
"Then there it is! What is so difficult?" Her mother shook her head.
Natalia looked down at her hands that writhed together. "I'm scared." Her voice was small.
"Aw, baby." Her mother came over and sat next to her, putting her arm over her shoulders and pulled her close. "It's completely normal. I understand. Love is not exciting for everyone. He probably feels the same way about you. But, honey, you're hurting him. It's not necessary to go on with this. Because you both love each other. There's no reason to run away from this special thing you have with him. Honestly I think you can be a bit...well, stupid, mind you."
"Ma!" Natalia scowled.
Her mother smirked deviously. The younger redhead rolled her eyes but a smile was pulling in the corner of her lips.
"So you'll give him a little visit today?"
Natalia nodded. "Yes." Her voice wavered, the thought of seeing Loki again making her very nervous. She swallowed thickly. "You're right, ma. Thank you." She hugged her mother.
"You're welcome, babe."
