There were very few people that survived. Caleb and I are the only people that had made it. Caleb was three at the time and was just getting over being sick, what he was a lot, when the first bomb hit. Everything shack and things were falling over left and right. My father told me to go pack a bag for Caleb and I, as well as grab my bow and to daggers. As soon as I finish packing I went out to the living room to see my parents rushing around grabbing food clothes so we could get out of the house and find somewhere safe.
"Get Caleb in wait right down the street!" yelled at my mother. I did as I was told and grab Caleb and ran down the street. Just as I made it with Caleb I start to turn around as a bomb lands on top of my used to be home. I fell backwards with Kayla crying in my arms. I feel as though I can't move and just sit there for a moment before it finally hits me and they get up and look for something that would take us away from everything.
As I am looking around but our neighbors motorcycle but he always forgets to take the keys out of. I run over and put Caleb on first before I get on behind him. I turn on the motorcycle and book it out of the town and into the forest that goes on for miles just outside of our small town.
Along the way we met a few groups, but in the end  they either died or are absolutely insane. The latest group we were apart of, was just a bunch of crazy assholes. They thought that because they were adults they could use me as a slave of sorts.
That leads us up to now, with me running through the forest with Caleb on my back. I had to get us away from the group, it wasn't safe for either of us. As I am running, I see a lake with a waterfall, and something behind it looks out of place. I can hear the group of men not far behind and start sprint to hide behind the waterfall. Waterfall is connected to a lake that the men continue to run past as Caleb and I are hidden.
Caleb being the small five-year-old he is clings to me as I sat him down.I am 12 years older than him. Caleb has bright green eyes, and a round favoritece just like me but with dark, Instead of the light brown that I have. Since we have been running we have been moving from group to group for the past two years.
Once I am sure that the men have completely gone I tell Caleb to sit down by one of the walls while I make sure the cave is safe. As I turned around to look through it became I hear her cough come from behind me. I turned around and rush to Caleb. I go to feel his forehead and sure enough he is burning up.
"Stay put Caleb. I'm going to find something for us to get to gather supplies to make a fire," I say as I start to walk outside of the cave.
I pull out my bow incase something decides to jump out. As I continue to walk around I hear a small Russell come from the push to my left. I turn on him at the bush as a rabbit hopped out and I let the arrow fly so that it can hit its mark.
"Looks like I found dinner," I mumbled to myself. I start to look for dry leaves and twigs as well as branches for the fire.
As I finish gathering leaves I make my way back to Caleb. Once I am back at the cave I see that Caleb looks pale. I build the fire and put Caleb near it as he starts to shake from the cold breeze. I wrap Caleb in his, as well as my own, blanket and place him near the back of the cave with the fire to sleep while I sleep near the mouth of the cave. I look out through the waterfall and slowly drift to sleep.
I wake up to Caleb having a coughing fit and I rush back to get him some water from last night. I'd like it to Caleb I notice he looks even more sickly than he did last night as well as his coughing up blood.
" We are going to have to stay here till you can get better Cay."
And hour or so later I decided I have to get breakfast for Caleb night, so I go out hunting gather as much supplies if I can fit in my bag for fire.
As I make it about 100 yards from the lake in case I hear crunching of leaves from something or someone. I had behind a tree and listen as the steps get closer and closer, right as the steps plus the tree I step out and aim my bow, at what looks to be a male teen my age. He spun around with a knife in hand as soon as he heard me jump out. We stared at each other citing the other up, but I make the first move and kick the knife out of his hand and re-aim my bow at him.
"Turn around and put your hands behind your back," I say as I glared at the unknown male.
He slowly turns around and puts his hands behind his back. I take the rope I have from the side of my backpack and tie his hands together. I put my bow over my shoulder and take one of my daggers from its place on my right thigh and point it at his back.
"Walk," I growl at I grab the rope between his wrist. I slowly beat him to the cave with the wood I had gathered.
As we get back to the cave I tie the rope attached to the boy to the bottom of a giant rock that happened to be in the middle of the cake. The boys sit down and looks around the cave, but as his gaze falls on Caleb he begins to look concerned.
"I can help him the," boy says, "my mom was a nurse and I used to go to work with her sometimes when I was younger." I was still very wary of the boy and didn't trust him to actually help Caleb. "My name is Grayson, I'm 17 and my parents were killed by a group. I can help him, I promise."
"Fine, but if I see anything funny I will not hesitate to kill you," I snarl.
I slowly and tie his hands but stay on my guard guard. "His name is Caleb," I say as Grayson starts to walk over to my brother.
"Can you get a cloth and put some cold water on it from the falls," Grayson asks as he is holding his hand on Caleb's forehead. I do as he asked and walk back over to the two. Gray takes the cloth gently and leaves it on Caleb's head.

It has been a few days and I'm starting to trust Grayson. He has been taking care of Caleb even though he doesn't seem to be getting any better. I've been out on a hunt for the past couple hours and I am heading back with three squirrels, a pigeon, and a rabbit.
Caleb is getting worse and I fear but he isn't going to make it, but I also think he knows that he isn't going to make it either.
As I walk into the cave Caleb is having a coughing fit while Grayson is holding a red stain cloth to his mouth. Can I go outside Phoenix," Caleb says to me, "I really want to be able to see what it's like outside before I'm gone."
I look up Caleb at him and set down everything from the hunt. I walk over to Caleb and hoist him up in my arms and slowly start to walk him outside. I slowly set Caleb down on his own 2 feet and he walks closer to the lake, but just as he's about to reach the lake he passes out. I rush to his side and start to shake him but he is not waking up. I pick him up and start screaming at Grayson to start a fire to put Caleb near. I put my hand on his forehead and he feels freezing cold.
Caleb wakes up a few hours later and says the most grim thing that I wish I would never here come out of a five year olds mouth. " I don't think I'm going to make it much farther sissy."
I look at Caleb with eyes like saucers can start to shake my head in denial that I might lose my brother. "Can you please take me to the rock in the middle of the lake," Caleb says.
I pick up Caleb and slowly start making my way into the lake to get to the rock in the center with Grayson hot on my tail. As I make it to the wrong I set Caleb down and put his head on my lap.
As Caleb and I sit sit on the rock with Grayson on the edge Caleb looks up at me and says, "I love you Sissy and I Want you to be able to go on with Gray," and just as he says that he lets out a final breath.
I began to cry hysterically as Grayson rushes over and tries to comfort me. I pick Caleb up and bring him back to the cave. I am not able to sleep at night so I go out and start to dig a grave for my baby brother. At some point during the night I wander back in the cave and fall asleep with Grayson.
The next morning right as the sun rises Grayson and I find a stone that we put at the end of Caleb's grave and carve "Here lies Caleb who died way too young. My baby brother." With the heart at the bottom.
That night Grease it and I decide that the next morning we are going to go find somewhere to live and be safe. I also can't stay there knowing that my brother died here because of not being able to help him.

One year later Grayson and I return the lake to say our final goodbyes before we never end up coming back to this place. "Grayson can I have some time to say some words before we leave." I please Fred,Caleb's favorite light brown teddy bear, on top of his grave. I had been carrying around Fred to remember Caleb by. I slowly get up and begin to turn around but before I leave I feel a breeze and know that Caleb is with me in that moment. As I begin to walk away I whisper "I love you Caleb."
