The world hates Rowan, just detest and loathe her. It was the only plausible explanation on why since she arrived at rainy little town called Forks, nothing has gone right.

Just recently, a vampire came to kill Bella. His name was Laurent, the red-head's bff . It was the first time that Paul and the others actually killed someone-or something and  it bothered Rowan that they didn't show any sign remorse or regret. She hated how everyone acted as though it was normal, it boggles her mind that they can simply move on from it.

The vampires  were once like them, human, but has they truly lost their humanity? Rowan knew only of the Cullens and Victoria and they were both at the very end of spectrum for good and evil.

As it turns out, she will find out herself.

On a rainy friday afternoon, she lay at the couch next to a deep thinking Paul and a grumbling Jacob. Bella disappeared with Alice and when they came back, all of the Cullens came with them. Bella has now forgotten him completely and threw herself to the arms of the ever so loving Edward. So, naturally, Jacob sulked from the moment the sun rise up and when the sun set.

Meanwhile, Paul was ecstatic with  planning for her upcoming birthday. He had this sort of mad look going on, his hair a mess after running through it many times after  changing his mind once again. Rowan never saw anyone as excited about someone else's birthday.

"I know! Let's go to the park? No, that's too cheap. How about I take you to the amusement park and then we can watch a movie and have  a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant?" Rowan reached over to fix his hair and he closed his eyes as he groaned in appreciation.

"Paul, don't sweat it. I don't want anything  too fancy or anything. Maybe just a bonfire dinner with the pack?" He shook his head at her , his eyes twinkling. "That one is already set, we will do it a day before your actual birthday. We will  celebrate your birthday with the pack and then after it would be just the two of us"

Retracting her hand back, she spoke. " Pau-"

Billy came by the living room, glancing helplessly at his son then giving an annoyed expression at Paul.

''Hey Row, someone's on the phone for you"

Jumping from her seat, she stretched. ''It must be dad" Paul ran through his hair again with his fingers, whining at the lost of contact with Rowan.

Someone just had to interrupt.

"Nope, the lady said her name is Helena"

Rowan frowned, why would Noah's mom call her? And how did she get her number?Walking towards the phone line warily, she picked up the phone.

"Hi Mrs. Dayton"

The lady on the other side laughed nervously. After a few seconds she recollected herself and  finally spoke. "My dear Rowan, I told you Helena is fine. Listen, I'm not supposed to say anything and Noah will probably disown me any time soon if he hadn't already," Her voice turned into quiet whispers as the woman held the phone closer to her "Since you didn't visit Noah last summer, he saved up to visit you for your birthday instead. He wanted it as a surprise of course, but I can't keep still and be quiet. You live in dangerous area you know, the news about the animal attacks has reached us all the way to Canada. I'm a mother Rowan ! I can't help it. So deary, please, he's supposed to be at Seattle now. Can you please ask your kind father to keep an eye on him? I've heard he is working in Seattle. Please don't ask me how I know that. Noah is not answering my phone calls. Teenagers, they will be the death of me"

"M-- Helena , don't worry about it. I'll let my dad know. I think I'm pretty good at pretending I'm surprised anyway, Noah will not suspect a thing" she said with a smile on her face. Noah is coming and somehow her world seem brighter. She can ask someone from the pack (definitely not Paul) to escort him to Forks, perhaps it would be Jared, he did owe her some money. Maybe Noah can bring some sort of normalcy back into her life.
