Christmas passed, family dinner went normal. I managed to mention that I had called Ross and we were back together. My mom of course was happy for me. Aiden and my dad didn't care quite as much. Which is funny because I recall my dad saying he wanted to know about these sort of things, and now he didn't care. But since it was Christmas I didn't start any arguments.
I texted Jenna the next day, asking if I could come over to tell her some important information. I didn't actually tell her what it was.
"So what is it?" Jenna asked as she opened her door, I smiled at her. "What."
"I was talking to this guy..."
"What? Who?" She said, I ignored her just to make her annoyed.
"And now we are officially together, as of yesterday."
"Blair? Another guy? Why haven't you told me anything! Who is it?" She said slightly angry, and slightly disturbed with me.
"Well his name is Ross and-"
"Wait. Like Ross Ross?" She asked confused. "Are you talking about the same Ross because if you are dating another guy named Ross then we have some talking to do."
"It's Ross." I laughed at her, and say down on her couch.
"You're back together?" She asked excited for me.
"Yes we are!" I said smiling, she got over excited and felt the need to strangle me with a hug.
"Thank god he finally asked you again! I knew he would, I mean he-" I stopped her.
"Actually I asked him."
"You asked him? Really?" She said surprised.
"What's so wrong about that?!" I defended myself.
"Nothing it's just, since when do you have the guts to ask a guy to go into a relationship?"
"Uh, maybe since I've been with him before..?" I said.
"Who cares. I'm surprised by you, but who cares! You're back with him!" She laughed.
"I know, I'm so happy!"
"Don't you guys have long distance issues though?"
"We are going to work on it." I said hopefully.
"Well I'm happy for you. Congrats." She said. I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. It was my mom calling me.
"Mom? What's up?" I asked, she usually didn't call me when I was across the street.
"Josh's mom just called me,". She said and I then put all of my focus into the call. "Josh is awake."
"I'll be right over." I said without hesitation then grabbed my stuff.
"What?" Jenna asked me, watching me walk to her door.
"It's Josh." I answered her, opening the door and starting to walk out.
"What's wrong?" She said to me as I walked away to my house.
"He's up." I shouted back then walked straight to my moms car which was already half pulled out of the driveway.
I jumped in the car and my mom drive is towards the hospital.
"How long has he been up?" I asked her.
"Only about forty minutes." She answered me.
"Alright." I said so relieved he was finally awake.
We both stayed silent as we drove. We got there, and I walked in front of my mom to his room. Slightly bursting open the door.
The first thing I saw were Josh's eyes, awake. He smiled at me and my immediate reaction was rush to his bedside and hug him tightly. Then realizing that he was still fragile and loosening my grip. Eventually backing away to look at him again.
"Hey." He said smiling at me. He just woke up from saving my life, getting shot, and tens of physical injuries and he says hey?
"Hey?" I answered back, I didn't actually know how to respond.
"Good to see you." He said.
"And you. How are you feeling?" I asked.
"Better." I gave him a funny look, "Well better than a shot in the chest." He added then laughed. I didn't laugh or crack a smile, even if he was trying to make a joke.
"I think we should leave them alone for a moment." Josh's mom said. Then all the parents walked out of the room.
"You saved me." I said looking in his eyes, the same eyes I had looked into with fright on the day he was shot. "Josh, I could be dead right now."
"So could I." He added.
"But you're not." I said blinking more than normal, and starting to stutter my words. "You were so brave, and I couldn't ever thank you enough for what you did."
"Well actually, I want to thank you."
"You're the one that saved a person and you're thanking me?"
"Yeah." He said sure of himself.
"Why?" I asked confused, what did I do?
"Blair, if you weren't there, I probably wouldn't have fought that guy. I probably would have sat in that corner until he found me and killed me." I started shaking my head in disagreement. "Yeah, he would have killed me. But because you were there, I had a reason to fight, and a reason not to give up. So thank you."
I felt like I might cry, but I held it back. "I was your reason?" I asked him.
"You saved me. And maybe you walked into a place where we both could have died, but I wasn't about to let that happen, not to you. The only thing I wanted in that moment was for you to get out alive."
"Josh..." I said, then stopping. Instead of saying anything, I just hugged him again. "Thank you." I mumbled into his shoulder, over and over again.
