It was a dark cold night, the loud sounds of gunfire and war cries echoed through the misty air as a raging battle was fought all around him. They were outnumbered, he knew that, so did his mate. He clutched their sparkling close to his bulky chassis as he ran. He was never one to run from battle, he never ran from the enemy. But he had to protect his daughter, their daughter.

He didn't look back as he pushed himself to continue running forward 'I have to keep her safe' he thought to himself. The joints in his legs burned but he didn't let that stop him.

The sound of battle was fading from his audio receptors the further he ran from it. He heard footsteps behind him but he didn't dare look back. Fear crept into his spark but was quickly washed away as his mate reassured him that it was him that was behind him, he was watching his back, not letting the enemy hurt him or their sparkling.

Once both of the mechs reached the docks they halted to a stop, they spotted a few stasis pods left, one was intact the other two were broken but looked to be fixable.

"We have to send her" his mate said urgently, he glanced over his shoulder to see if anyone had followed them. "We have to keep her safe" his usually rough voice rumbled quietly.

"We don't know what'll happen if we send her alone!" His grip tightened on his daughter, he was scared for her life, he had never cared about anyone the way he cared about his daughter.

"If we don't send her she's dead" his mate snapped, "or she'll be taken prisoner and raised to be our enemy!"

"I... You're right" his shoulders slumped in defeat. He didn't show weakness, he wasn't weak but at the thought of losing his daughter he'd be damned if it didn't take some sort of emotional toll on him. "Where will we send her?"

"Earth, we will rendezvous there with her" his mate told him, he stepped closer and stroked the recharging sparklings metal cheek with the back of his digit. He wasn't a tender mech, he didn't show affection to anyone, the only exceptions were his mate and daughter. "We must send her now, the enemy will be here soon" he mumbled, he looked pained briefly before he stepped over to the pod and opened it up.

He watched his mate walk to the pod and open it, he shook his helm then looked down at the sparkling that was cuddled up to his gray and purple chassis, he didn't want to send her away, but he knew he had no choice, all he could do was hope he would see her again. A sigh left his metal lips as he walked over to the pod and set her in it comfortably, he watched her for a moment. She was such a perfect mix of the two of them, a ghost of a smile tugged at the corner of his lips, his tired expression turning into a happy one if only for a few moments.

"We'll will find her again" his mate tried to assure him, it worked mostly but there was still doubt in his spark.

"I hope so" he mumbled, his optics drifted to the button that would seal the pod before he looked at his mate. His mate gave a nod telling him to do it, he squeezed his optics shut and pushed the button roughly, he couldn't bare to see the sparkling he had carried within him disappear into the darkness. He had faced down some of the fiercest warriors but here he was, to afraid to watch a stasis pod fly away, a stasis pod carrying his daughter.

"We'll find her" his mate echoed, he wrapped his arms around the mech, they both remained silent for a moment, just thinking about the potential loss. "We better start fixing these pods" his mates voice said bringing him back to reality.

"Yeah, we better get to work" he mumbled, he gave a tight smile that didn't reach his optics.
