You made your way up the stairs to Erik's apartment. It's been a few days since you've heard from him and he hasn't returned any of your calls or texts. Erik wasn't the best boyfriend, but he never ignored you like this. Technically, you were just having sex, and only for five months, but you fell for him. You were worried, hoping that everything was okay and that nothing was wrong.
You heavily knocked twice on his door. The door opened and a half naked woman was standing there, dressed in her underwear and one of Erik's shirts, looking at you with a puzzled expression. In that moment, you felt everything cease. Were you even breathing? Your blood was boiling. You couldn't believe this. Was this really happening?
"So, where is it?" The half naked woman asked as she stared at you in confusion.
Snapping out of your daze you raised an eyebrow at her, "Where's what?"
"The pizza! We ordered pizza like half an hour ago."
You shook your head, fighting back tears, "I'm not delivering pizza. Where's Erik?"
"Why are you looking for him?"
You sighed deeply, wiping a hand down your face as you struggled to keep your composure, "Because I n-"
Heavy footsteps approached as Erik grabbed the door, pulling it back slightly, "Yo, is that the pizza?"
He frowned once he saw that it was you standing there.
"(Y/N)? What you doing here?"
You paused, clearing the lump in your throat. Seeing him in nothing but his underwear gave you all the confirmation you needed.
"I've been calling you and you haven't returned my calls. I was worried. Now I know that I don't need to be."
He huffed, nodding at the woman to go back inside. She rolled her eyes at you before sauntering back inside. Erik pulled the door closed as he stepped outside, chuckling lightly.
"What's so funny?"
He shook his head at you as if you were a clueless fool, "You can't take a hint, can you, (Y/N)?"
"What are you talking about, Erik?"
"This is over. You getting way too attached and you don't do it for me no more."
You knew this was coming but his words still hurt.
"Where is this coming from all of a sudden? We were good a few days ago! Now you're telling me you want to end this?"
"Yeah," he shrugged, "I mean it was just sex anyway. I saw how you was looking at me last time we fucked. I'm ending this before it's too late."
You tried to stop them, but the tears began to fall.
"This wasn't just sex to me, Erik! I love you! I have for weeks now." You cried.
He shook his head, turning away from you as if your words pained him, "I know you do."
"Then why a-"
He slowly turned back to you, looking into your tearful brown eyes, "I told you not to fall for a nigga like me! I don't love you, (Y/N), aight? I don't love anyone! I can't..."
"So, you couldn't wait for me to fall out of love before you fucked another woman?"
His ominous laugh angered you. How could he be so careless? As if the last few months weren't the best thing to ever happen to you?
"This is my dick and I fuck whoever I want. I don't owe you anything, (Y/N). I was trying to be nice so I just ignored your calls, but now I'm through with this conversation. Lose my fucking number."
With that being said, he walked back inside, slamming the door closed in your face without a second glance.
"What the fuck is wrong with me?" you thought as tears streamed down your face, tightly gripping the rail as you walked down the stairs to your car.
Immensely overwhelmed by your emotions, you felt like you were about to pass out. You opened your car door, slamming it shut once you got inside. Your breathing was erratic. You were brokenhearted and unsure of what to do. You've never felt like this before. You never loved anyone. Erik was the first.
You started your car and reached to lower the volume, only pausing as Frank Ocean's Bad Religion began to flow through through the car.
This unrequited love
To me it's nothing but
A one man cult
And cyanide in my styrofoam cup
I could never make him love me
Never make him love me
Love, love...Why would you fall in love with someone who couldn't love you back? Erik specifically told you not to fall for him when you started sleeping together, but you didn't listen. You fell for his callous ass anyway and now look at you. Sobbing as what's left of your heart continued to break. You don't know how long you sat there, crying harder as each lyric hit a little too close to home.
It's a bad religion
To be in love with someone
Who could never love you
Only bad
Only bad religion
Could have me feeling the way I do
