Walking down the hall, I heard a familiar voice coming from another one of the hospital rooms.
With out thinking, I tip-toed closer to the cracked door to find out who it was.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Cole, but if we do not perform the surgery, the cancer will spread to the rest of your body."
Mr. Cole?
Is that Eric in there?
I heard a sigh.
"Just let me think about it, mate."
Yep.
Definitely Eric.
The door opened wider and the doctor walked out, almost running into me.
"Sorry, excuse me, please," the doctor asked.
I moved out of the way, feeling embarassed for eavesdropping.
Disregarding my embarassment, I went in the room to find Eric with casts on his right arm and left legg.
"Well look what the cat dragged in," Eric snickered at me.
"What happened Eric?"
"It's none of your buisness, mate!"
I sat down.
"I'm sorry for punching you, I should have controlled my anger."
"Yeah, yeah," Eric rolled his eyes, "what do you want? Money? If you do, take a good look around, mate, 'cause I have none to spare!"
I hated his attitude, but I guessed he was acting this way because of how much pain he was in.
"Eric, what happened?" I asked again, softly.
Eric sighed.
"I got into a car wreck," his tone and volume dropped, "when the doctors did their x-ray thing for all my broken bones, they discovered something else."
He looked at me.
I nodded to indicate that I was listening.
"Besides a broken arm and legg, they found bone cancer."
I gasped.
"Eric, that's terrible!"
"It's called bone metastasis. The doctor said that it's the reason why my arm and legg got broken so easily. He also said that it will eventually, if not already, spread into my spine and skull."
"Does he know how you got it?"
"He's not sure, but he thinks it might have started in my thyroid then got into my bloodstream, taking it into my bones."
"Eric, I'm so sorry."
"Don't be."
"When did you get in a car accident?" I asked.
"Last night."
"Wait, last night?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Jason got in a car accident last night too," my jaw dropped.
"Isn't that coinsidensial, mate," Eric smirked.
"You caused the reck!" my anger forced me to stand up.
"Hey, don't get all riled up, I'm just as injured as your boyfriend over there."
I took a deep breath.
"I would pity you, Eric, but you just think life is one big joke!"
I stormed out of his room before any of us could do more damage.

Hey readers!
So sorry it's been so long since I've updated!
School started again along with play rehearsal (yeah I'm in a play too) and late nights filled with homework. To top it all off, I got that nasty bug that's been traveling around.
This chapter was short, hope to make it up to you next time, but please don't be upset if the update doesn't come too soon.
My best regards to you and don't get sick!
