Rose Prochter believed that she was the worst witch with pathetic power and skill, unable to muster even a simple spell to light a candle, so she decided to turn away from magic feeling little more than a failure and instead focused on the human side of life. As a researcher at Oxford University, she was living the best life she could want, her nose stuck in books that smelt of dust and other worlds.
However, when she invites her cousin, Diana Bishop, to come to stay with her, the world changes and Rose would have to face magic, the truth about the world, the truth about her family... and the truth about herself.
