Thanks be to God, Chukwuebuka Goodluck Chisimdi Glory was born safe and sound. Ifeoma nurtured her child to be a God fearing and obedient child. She made sure he attended classes that benefits him positively especially church services. This was her own way of training her children. Like every other of her lovely children, Goodluck excelled academically but this time more than her other children. Goodluck became his dad's favorite and this was the beginning of subjugation in the family.
Good luck was the naughty type that took everything for fun.
There was a time he got into a fight with a child in his neighborhood and bite this child like he was a blood sucker. The little Chinonso reported to his dad. His dad was thinking it was someone way bigger than his son not knowing it was his son age mate. He ran out of his gate fuming with anger "Where's that son of no training that had the gut to lay his filthy fingers on my son. Chinonso show me that human being that touched you". Chinonso's dad lamented as he followed his son to who bite him. Expecting it to be a grown-up teenager, he started practicing his boxing skills. "Chinonso show me the boy who had the gut to use his smelling gum on your skin" he commanded his son. "Daddy he's over there" Chinonso pointed. Immediately his dad reflexed back to grab the person who assaulted him but on seeing a little human not up to 150m height, bulgy eyes, giraffe-like ears and standing nose who looked like an oracle, his dad burst into laughter. "Are you telling me this little creature injured you and you came home crying?" His dad asked. "Yes sir, he's the one. That's him". He responded. Chinonso's dad picked up his left foot slippers and flogged Chinonso back home for disturbing him. Goodluck uncontrollably laughed at Chinonso as the poor boy suffered double pain.
The next day in school, Goodluck's class teacher gave everyone a simple mathematics classwork. Everyone in class could not solve it including Goodluck. Quickly, Good luck remembered the previous day, his lesson teacher taught him exactly what was given in class. He reached for his school bag, opened it and as he was about to bring it out, the popular reporter Aisha, shouted. "Ma, Goodluck is copying something from another book into his book, I think it's an expo". The teacher asked Goodluck to bring the two books he was holding. She compared the both books and without a word clapped on Goodluck's face. Goodluck's brain started musing and he started hearing strange noises. "Who gave you this book?" Miss Beauty asked. Goodluck on the contrary heard "Go have a look" so he decided to walk out. "Are u walking out on me?" Miss Beauty asked while lashing his back. Goodluck became confused and began to stagger. He stood still for five mins before he made a sentence. "Ma, I didn't hear what you said" he replied. "So I look like a church bell right?" The teacher asked. "Not really ma, but I think I can't grab what you said for the past fifteen minutes" he replied. "Get out before I make u cry" she chased him away. Goodluck left with tones of colored flesh on his face. As he headed for his seat, Chisom began telling him "I warned you but you refused my words". With fury in Goodluck's eyes he looked at the lying Chisom who didn't even say a word to him. "Your saving grace is that this is a school" Goodluck replied Chisom.
School was over, time for everyone to go home. Goodluck ran to the bus stop to wait for Aisha. He was glad and happy to see her approaching. He hid behind a fence and the moment she passed the fence, he ambushed her. "Come you get mind report me, you'll see me today" Goodluck spoke confidently to Aisha. He tied her to the long 🌲 at the bus stop and weeped her ten times as she struggled for help. "Next time will you report me?" He asked repeatedly. "No I'll never in my life try to even call your name in school" Aisha replied pleading for mercy. Goodluck looked her in the eyes and saw the pain in her eyes. He started seeing strange things too like.... Antelopes with 🦁 face. He tore the rope and adviced her to run.
The next in school was not funny. Aisha's dad came to the school with great anger. He asked the headmistress to release to him that pupil that flogged his daughter this badly. The headteacher asked Aisha who did it and she replied Goodluck.
Pupils from primary two started running out from the class. That was Goodluck's class, he was transforming into something unusual. The headmistress asked one of the pupil running what was going on "Ma'am Goodluck is not normal he's becoming a beast in human form" he spoke terrified. "Do you the boy who beat up my daughter"Aisha's dad asked the headmistress. "Yes, Suh" the headmistress replied. "He must be forging this one to relieve my anger but I'll show him why I joined the army force... Fearless we are" Aisha's dad spoke courageously. He asked for the direction to the class as both the head mistress and Aisha led him to the class. When they got there, they saw a human roaring like a 🐅. Immediately, Aisha screamed "Obara Jesus come and deliver us". She turned to her dad but found no body there. She heard the gate close in a rush and when she looked outside, she saw her dad on a bike speeding towards her home area. When Goodluck noticed Aisha's dad was gone, he calmed down and greeted the head teacher. The head teacher was scared too and she greeted Goodluck too. She courageously in fear walked to her office. Goodluck looked at the lonely Aisha where she was and warned her with audacity never to report him.
The next session came and it was time for the reading contest. Goodluck started having a funny health. He had malaria for the first time and as usual, you are bound to be weak. Goodluck slept from d first day of d week til the unfixed date arrived. The head teacher with the English language staff announced on the assembly ground that they would be a contest that day. Good luck was so weak that it affected his bones. They started from nursery one to primary six. They entered primary three, Goodluck's class, everyone read and had a pause but Goodluck read slowly due to his health and you could barely hear a crack in his fluency. The results were withheld til the next day. The next day was awesome. The head teacher greeted everyone both staff and students, as she began to call the winners of the competition from each class chronologically. Surprisingly, Goodluck won his class award and this moved the other students for he was not feeling alright. It is time to go home, everyone loves to go home especially those using the school's bus. Goodluck and the other kids using the school bus ran to it as they quickly rushed to seat at the back seat. Goodluck was unlucky today. He had to sit at the second to the last row beside Faith. Faith was Goodluck's seat partner. Goodluck chatted with Faith likewise other children in the school bus. The driver happily drove all the kids to their respective homes. Now, it is time for Faith to go home. Faith came down with her sister, waved at her classmates goodbye including Goodluck then something happened. Her water bottle cover rolled under the school bus. She was so curious to pick it that she didn't give the driver's a sign that she wanted to pick it up. As she crawled to pick it, the driver reversed back. He felt something like a stone at the tire corner, he used speed to climb over it. Suddenly, he saw Faith sister screaming and crying. He wondered what it could be until the neighborhood started shouting too. He came down only to see Faith lying unconscious, bleeding from her head. Goodluck was wondering why everyone in the school bus was crying but didn't pay much attention to it. It was his time to come down, as he was about to Cross over, he saw lifeless Faith at the entrance of the school bus floor. He began to cry and scream at the spot until he was levered over her carcass. The driver tried rushing her to the hospital nearby but they referred her to the state's teaching hospital.
The next day at school, Faith's mum came to the school crying and lamenting over her daughter's death and also threatened to lock down the school. She accused the school of using children's blood to function. Class that day wasn't too good for Goodluck. All the students observed some minutes of silence to honor the death of Faith. Faith was actually Goodluck's seat partner and so this marked the boring life Goodluck would live that term. Everyone was busy chatting with their seat partner but Goodluck was different.... He had none for the main time.
The term ended. Goodluck's performance was too poor for anyone who knew his worth. "Oh my Lord! I took tenth position, my dad will trash my back" Goodluck lamented as he viewed his results. Meanwhile Goodluck's bro came first in his class. This was gonna be a hell at home. Luckily for him, his dad wasn't interested in his term's performance and advised him to read more.
Goodluck has always been a trouble maker and so his attitude at home was unpredictable. One day, Goodluck went to the street to play with other kids on holiday. He noticed nobody gave him attention and he decided to curb that attention towards himself. Those who were playing ball were way older than him yet, he decided to frustrate them. Whenever they played the ball towards him he will kick the ball so hard that it'll go off the pitch while the ball was still in the pitch. He did the first time, ran to his house, locked the gate. Second, third, but the fourth time wasn't too good for him. He did it the fourth time but when he ran home, he noticed the gate was locked from inside. The boys caught him, beat him and those who locked it from inside came out laughing. Goodluck with tears in his eyes cursed them all as he walked gently to his house.
They came to him trying to make him feel calm but he refused. He nearly stoned one at the head but take God for his sharp reflex. Goodluck that day was calm but it didn't all end calmly. In the night, Goodluck started complaining of hunger. His dad warned him not to disturb him but Goodluck's cry button only increased at this point of time. Emmanuel came out of his room and flogged Goodluck to sleep. He didn't sleep but cried more until his mum came around and offered him caprisonne. At the sight if the caprisonne, Goodluck's mouth closed. He drank it and slept off.
Holidays were over and all the children in the neighborhood returned back to school including Goodluck. A new comer came, Lolade by name. She was beautiful and charming. Goodluck cared less about the opposite sex but it seemed Lolade has her eyes on Goodluck. Goodluck always hated to hear anyone paring him up with the opposite sex. He can pick up a fight because of that. Lolade began her gospel that term preaching to everyone how Goodluck would be too happy when they get married. "Hmm! Goodluck I think this gal likes u with all her heart, give a trial before another boy comes in between the both of you" Abuchi, Goodluck's friend advised. Goodluck looked at Abuchi in a terrific manner. "If not that you're my friend, I'd have made u pay for your words. Why don't you try her out and if she's cool inform me, Mr adviser". Goodluck retorted. "I'm just advising you to the best I can" Abuchi defended his speech. "Have u finish advising yourself on how to get good grades this term?. You better face your book and leave women troubles alone". Goodluck replied him and he leaves the room. "Everytime, this boy would be claiming oga saint. No problem I can still catch him later" Abuchi soliloquies. "I pity this Abuchi guy, his mentality is too poor academically yet he claims love hero.... I can blame him. He chose the life he's living". Goodluck monologues as she walks to the school library. He arrived at the library, got a seat and settled down. Lolade was behind him. When she noticed he sat down two seat from her's she adjusted til she sat close to him. "Why don't you talk to me, Goodluck?" She asked. "Cos I think the devil is about to use you to ruin my life" he replied. "So you're calling me a witch" she responded in anguish. "I didn't say that, the devil can use anyone including myself" he defended himself. "Can we be besties?" She stretched out her right arm to shake him. "If only you give me one solid reason why we should be" Goodluck tried to turn down the request. "Yeah! You often encourage me alot indirectly because I think this is the first time ever we're talking this long" she spoke like a goddess. "And it's the last time I'll sit like this to you" Goodluck gave her a mocking smile. Goodluck stood up to leave the library but he noticed something, the whole library was looking at him. They whispered to each other, I mean everyone in the library. Goodluck was scared about what actually may be the reason for such scenario. He walked as fast as he can til he left the library but he didn't leave for real, he went to a corner to eardrop what they were up to. "Bae, give me time. He might be proving stubborn now but trust me I'll make him bow to my feet in a minute minute" Lolade told the rest of her friends. They all encouraged her and gave her more hopes to keep trying. Good luck heard all they said from where he was standing outside. He smiled to himself as he left for class.
Few weeks after that incident, Abuchi came to Goodluck telling him stories Goodluck never wanted to hear. "Bros gee.... Lolade brought a knife to school and wanted to kill somebody" Abuchi told Goodluck. "But it's not my business" Goodluck tried to wave off the anxious Abuchi from disturbing his day. Abuchi tried convincing Goodluck that she wanted to kill him(Goodluck) but Goodluck wasn't ready to buy his gift. Goodluck asked Abuchi the summary of what he(Abuchi) has saying since ten minutes ago. Abuchi replied "she's evil". Goodluck asked Abuchi if he(Goodluck ever crushed on her). Abuchi looked shocked that up to the moment Goodluck had not shake nor stagger to thinking about Lolade. He smiled as he shook Goodluck's hand. "You're indeed a sole man" Abuchi affirms Goodluck.
