Opposites Attract

Back to school blues

Penny stood outside of the tall Fillbook Highschool. She had some butterfly's in her stomach. Not the good kind. She nervously twirled her long brown hair. She just stood there, hoping she would be struck by lightning to end her misery. But when she heard the warning bell ring she snapped out of her depression and ran inside the school, trying her best to dodge everyone in her way. She didn't want to be late on the first day.

Penny ran as fast as she could, she saw her class room right up ahead, but right before she made it to the door, she ran right into someone, and went tumbling to the ground. All her books, and papers went flying everywhere. Just then she heard the second bell ring and the hallways cleared. Just then the person she ran into turned around and yelled: "Watch where your going!"

Penny looked up and saw a boy. He didn't look very friendly.

"Sorry." Penny said sarcastically while picking up her books and papers. The boy kneeled down beside her and helped her pick up papers.

He huffed with anger they both stood up and he handed her the books and papers.

It was silent for a few seconds, as they just stared at each other. "Carter." He said.

"What?" Penny was confused.

"That's my name, I'm Carter."

"Penny."

Carter smiled.

"Umm...Well I should go now, I'm already late." Penny walked into her classroom.

After school, Penny was heading for the door as a familiar deep voice called her name.

"Penelope! Hold on!"

Penny stopped and turned around to see Mr. Matt, her math teacher, calling her.

"Yeah Sir?" She replied.

"I've seen your grades from last year. Very impressive. Straight A's!" Mr. Matt smiled.

"Thank you sir! I try my best" Penny tried her best not to brag.

"Well, I have a troubled student in my class. He wont listen to me, he might listen to a student closer to his age."

"Um... You want me to tutor?" Penny asked.

Mr. Matt nodded. "It would be a great help!"

Penny thought for a while. "Well... I guess so..."

Mr. Matt smiled. "Awesome! He will meet you after 5."

Penny thought for a moment. "You already knew I would say yes?"

He shrugged. "Meet him in the math room for 5." Then he walked away.

At 5, Penny walked into the math room and waited for the student she was tutoring.

After 30 minutes she heard the door open.

"You're half an hour late...." Penny frowned and turned her head to the door.

"Oh it's you..." He smirked.

"Carter?" Penny was shocked. "What are you doing here?"

"Getting married" Carter said sarcastically. "I'm here to be tutored."

Penny rolled her eyes. "Just sit down."

Carter sat beside her at the table. "I have some rules though."

Penny sighed.

"You can't tell anyone you're tutoring me, I have a reputation to keep."

"K" Penny really didn't care.

"And if anyone asks, I don't know you." Carter said.

"Alright can we start now..."

"Yes"
