Jaren hugged John one last time before he got out of the car and walked into the airport to return to Canada. John felt his throat heat up with the words he didn't speak. His stomach ache with the butterflies he didn't let out. His heart hurt with the feelings he never expressed. He heard a car behind him honk their horn, telling him he had been in the dropoff lane for too long. He slowly drove away, tears starting to appear.

He had meant to tell his friend the feelings he had for him, but he never found the opportunity or the confidence. He pulled into a parking spot to sulk when he realized that Jaren's headphones were left on his passenger seat. He grabbed them and ran into the airport, praying he wouldn't be too late. He ran, frantically searching for Jaren's gate. He finally found it and looked around for his brown-haired friend. His eyes finally found a small milk bag shaped plushie sitting on a chair, its owner sitting next to it. His flight was boarding, and Jaren stood up. John ran over to him, very out of breath.

"John? What are you doing here? And why are you out of breath?" He said with surprise in his voice.

"You left your headphones." he handed them to him and Jaren smiled, though with a hint of sorrow behind it.

"Thanks. Look, my flight is boarding so I have to go but once again it was nice to see you." He grabbed his stuff and turned, but all of John's pent up feelings were nearly killing him.

"Jaren, wait." Jaren turned back toward John and adjusted his backpack on his shoulder. "Look, these last few weeks hanging out with you have been great, and I'm really happy they happened, but-" He was cut off by an announcement saying it was the last call to board Jaren's flight.

"John, I really gotta-" His voice was laced with sadness.

"I know, but it's just... I'm in love with you." He could feel everything he had kept in all those weeks pour out of him. "I just really wanted to tell you before you left. I wanted to tell you face to face. But now you probably hate me and never want to talk to me again and I probably made you miss your flight and I-" John stumbled on his words and looked down, not able to look Jaren in the eyes.

He heard Jaren walk over to him, and braced himself for pain when instead he felt Jaren's lips on his. He was surprised at first but after a second he kissed back. The two separated after another second and John looked at Jaren questioningly.

"Aren't you going to miss your flight?" John said smiling.

"I'll take another one." Jaren replied before he took John by the collar and kissed him again, this time deeper and with more passion. They separated and John grabbed Jaren's hand with his own and said,

"Let's go home." Jaren smiled again, a real smile this time, and the two walked happily back to John's car, giggling the whole time.
