I sat at the bar of merlottes eating fries with a sprite I was off tonight . Sookie my sister was working tonight so I decided to tag along on my night off . the only real friend I had was my sister sookie . I flicked a fry at Sam the owner of the bar .
"Don't you have anything better to do on your day off than spend it at the place you work . " He smirked as the phone rang . stopping me from making a snappy comeback .
I smiled as he answered . "Evening , Merlotte's. " He spoke into the receiver . "Hey , Tara . Yeah she's right here." He answered just as my sister walked up to the bar . "
" I'm so sorry Sam ." Sookie apologized as she grabbed the phone from him . "She know not to call me at work. "
"Sookie ,it's okay."Sam brushed it off ."You don't abuse the privilege like Arlene does."
The red headed spitfire came out just in time to hear him say that . "Hey I heard that. "
"I wish you would hear that." Sam say setting the glass he was cleaning .
"Please. Sam, I have kids. "
Sookie turned around and spoke into the phone .
"This had better be an emergency ." She said to Tara our somewhat aggressive friend .
I ignored the conversation my sister was having sure that I would be informed not long after .
"Hey Sam can I get a refill on my drink . " I pointed to my cup .
He whipped around and dug in the fridge for a can and handed it to me.
"Thanks your a peach ." I giggled at the eye roll he gave me .
Dawn walked up to the bar by sookie both of us looked to her .
"Mack and Denise Rattray are just about to sit down in your section. "
Sookie whipped around looking tense Since as far back as I can remember sookie has been able to read minds . so I understand if she doesn't want to be inside of the minds of the two most horrible people i know in this town .
" don't let them get to ya chere ,they're not worth it ." Sam said walking up to sook encouraging her to be brave .
I grabbed her hand and gave it a squeeze to let her know I was here for her .
Sookie took a deep breath and turned around head to her section to wait on the scum of this town.
I sat staring at her watching her interaction with them hoping she would grit her way through it .
"She'll be fine Nola your sisters a strong woman she can handle those two just fine . "
I looked to him and smiled . "Your pretty good guy Sam my sister don't know what she's missing."
"I-" He started to make an excuse about not liking her like that .
"No it okay ."
Sam turned around to see Arlene on the phone with her kids again . I giggled when he stood behind trying to say something when she spoke up after turning to see him.
"I know he's not your daddy,but your daddy does not wanna live with us anymore . Remember ? "
He gave up and turned away at that statement .I started laughing at this .
"God I love this place it better than anything I could watch on TV at home . " I said to Sam before biting into a fry.

"My life sucks ."Tara said finally staring at her daiquiri as sookie showed up at the bar setting her stuff down .
"Oh Tara, don't be feeling sorry for yourself.."
I nodded and spoke up . "That's just lazy."
"Well why can't i keep a job?" She asked us .
"Maybe because you can't keep your mouth shut ." Sookie offered . which makes me bust out laughing because of how true it was .
"Bitch who asked you." Tara said before winking .
Sookie looked down with a smile .
Same came over with a beer set it down on a tray ."How you doing sookie ?"
"I've had better nights."
"Anything I can do to improve this one for you ?" Sam asked leaning forward on the bar toward you.
Sookie looked at him funny almost making me snort he was trying to hard . I didn't have to be a mind reader to know he was begging her to give him a chance in his head.
Sookie turned around suddenly when a man walked and started o sit in a both that was in Sookie's section .
We all stared at sookie and him cause we could see how transfixed she was by him .
I could tell now he was merlottes very first vampire .
They both met eyes making sookie whip around to us .
"Oh my god , " She smiled ."I think merlotte's just got it's very first vampire . "
" His eyes seem so piercing and dispirited ." I looked to sookie ." Do think that's how they all feel inside ." I asked .
"He probably has had a bad night ."
"Seems more than just a bad night put that look in his eyes." I murmured looking over to him .
"I think your right ." Sam said to sookie have not heard me .
"Can you believe it ? Right here, in Bon temps ?"she picked her pad and pen up as she spoke excitedly . " I've been waiting for this too happen since they came out of the coffin two years ago . "
She turned and headed to the brunette brooding vampire.While Tara and Sam showed great unhappiness about her enthusiasm . I myself felt very similar it was still shocking that they existed in the first place though since as sookie had said it has only been two years since they came out as being vampires .
Our Gran though had raised us to be very open minded .So even though I had reservations about being friends with one let alone talking to one . I believed they had rights and we needed to let them get their share .
I looked to Sam's butt hurt look . He was only upset because she was showing way to much excitement about the vampire being here in the first place .
Suddenly I could feel my sisters discomfort from across the room .
Sookie and I had always had a connection even though we weren't twins it was similar to that . But I believed it was more magical like how sookie reads minds . Whenever she's hurt I can feel and sometimes it will even hurt me . Like when Jason ran his bike over her foot when we were kids . I was all the way in the house and I dropped like it had happened to me . we went to the hospital and both of us had a broken toe . Though nothing had even happened to me .
I looked toward her and saw Mack Rattray and his way turned toward sookie .
