Blanket

I lay on the harsh stone

The winter night breathes down my neck

The town clock strikes twelve

It's really cold now

The rough snow brushes against my cheek

It's really cold now

My eyes struggle to peer open

A bright white light reflects off my eyes

It's really cold now

I pull a match from my pocket and light my fire

It's warm now

The flame dances in my eyes and I feel comforted

A hug that isn't there

It's warm now

The passionate flames melt away the snow

It's hot now

The warmth envelopes me The flames have a siren song

It deafens me

It burns now

I can't see the flames

I can't feel my blanket

The fire is done with me

It's cold now
