Draco was aged 16 when something remarkable happened to him; he fell in love with Luna Lovegood, at first he was reluctant due to his involvement with the death eaters, but he couldn’t hide his feelings for too long and much to his father’s irritation, he left the death eaters and started a new life with her. It seemed like plain sailing until the 18th April 2005, their wedding day.

“This is our day sweetie, nothing can ruin it for us” said Luna whilst tightly hugging her man. “I know! It is going to be so special! But I can’t help but feel a little nervous, do you feel nervous?” muttered Draco, unsure whether it was right to be nervous. “Of course I am! It’s normal to be nervous, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t want to marry you, because I do with the whole of my heart. What’s more, I am going to go and put my dress on now, no peeking remember, it is bad luck!” Luna replied before kissing him and leaving the room unaware that their ‘special day’ was due to be ruined.

Draco was already dressed ready for the wedding within the next twenty minutes, and then disapparated to the venue, where he walked through the door and stood at the altar awaiting his wife walking through the door. Ten minutes went by, and he began to worry, but then suddenly a glimpse of white coming through the door caught his eye, he looked up and sure enough there she was his wife-to-be, looking more beautiful than he had ever seen her.

The ceremony was going well; they were soon going to be legally married. Draco felt the butterflies in his stomach fluttering more than ever and then the vicar spoke out to the guests, “If anybody present knows of a reason why these two should not be joined in matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace.” All was quiet for a short while and just before the vicar was about to continue, “No Draco! You can’t do this! You can’t marry her!”

Everybody, including Draco and Luna, who were in front of the person who spoke out turned in shock and gasped to see that it was none other than the father of the groom, Lucius Malfoy! “For too long I have sat back and let you make a big mistake, but this is too far!” He continued, speaking once all of the gasping had come to an end. Before anyone else could say anything, Draco turned on his father, full of rage. “Father! How could you say such a thing?! She makes me happier than anyone else I have ever known, you are quite welcome to have your opinion on this marriage, but it is happening with or without you, so if it has to be without you, get the hell out of this church so I can marry the woman I love” he shouted.

With that he turned on his heel and made a silent exit, but it was only to Draco’s knowledge that this meant his father was really angry and plotting something, so he turned to the vicar and said “Could we hurry this along a bit. Please?” So, despite the fact that it was slightly unorthodox, the vicar skipped the lesser important parts and went straight to “Do you, Luna Lovegood, take Draco Lucius Malfoy to be your lawfully wedded husband?” To which she, rather enthusiastically, replied “I do!” Then the same was done again but for Draco, to which he also enthusiastically said “I do!” They both went over to sign the book and they were both smiling again, but not for long.

The pen was lifted off the paper, Luna had finished writing her name and Draco just finished writing his name, and as soon as he did so, there was an explosion at the back of the church. A few of the guests went flying towards the front of the church, everyone else ran out in a hurry, but first in the hustle and bustle were Draco and Luna, and what they saw shocked them. It was Lucius and some other former death eaters on broomsticks firing spells at the church and then all of a sudden the vicar cried out in rage at them, but that didn’t last long, all he saw before he died was the flash of green light come from Lucius’ wand.

“Father!” Draco yelled, “You are already too late! We are legally married!” Lucius just stopped in his tracks in the middle of the air and glared at them before flying off northwards with the other ambushers. Luna was now on the verge of tears, she could barely speak for fear of crying, “Draco, our day, our wedding was ruined by your father.” She couldn’t say anymore and she just fell into his arms, crying.
