it was weird. Knowing that you're moving to a different continent in a different part of the world. LA was a whole ass different than Sydney. But here I was, looking at all of the boxes that were stacked in the moving truck outside my dad's new house. I already moved some stuff into my room and decided to get the heaviest box of mine—clothes. I almost tripped down the ramp when I heard someone call,
"Need some help?" I looked over to see a tall guy, about my age walking up to me and waving. He had shoulder-length poofy black curly hair, bushy eyebrows, and a cute little grin.
"Yeah," I panted, "that would be great, thank you."
"No problem," he said happily, "I'm Kian, by the way."
"Hannah," I gave a small smile.
He looked confused for a second, "Where are you from?"
I laughed at the accent confusion, "I'm a cali girl, kian."
He chuckled, "So that means your James and Avery's sister?"
I looked at him, "How do you know?"
"You said California. I know that they were moving here and had a sister. I took a summer class with them a couple years ago."
"Oh! Yeah, oh my god I'm so stupid, they definitely would not shut up about you and how cool you and this other guy were." I almost facepalmed myself. My brothers were huge fans of music, and decided to take a class two years ago here in Sydney. They met kian and another guy who both had songs out on Spotify.
"Are they here?" He asked as we stepped up onto the stoop and went through the door.
"Yeah, they're up in their rooms," I said as we then climbed up the stairs. "BOYS?" I called.
The both yelled back "WHAA," at the same time. It's kinda funny how similar they were even though they weren't actually twins. They both peeped out of their rooms with huge grins on their faces as they saw Kian.
"BROO," Avery yelled as he hugged kian and did a little handshake, followed by James. Avery reminded me of Kian, with his long, curly dark hair, except that my brother was at least three inches taller and had a leaner frame and skinny little legs. James was shorter but lean with a side part and lighter hair. They both had the same smiles and my mother's eyes. I on the other hand, looked like the both of them, with long brown hair, bright blue-green eyes, and also a tall, lean frame. After a while, we all slowly managed to bring the boxes in the house. I changed into a yellow pullover tucked into some jeans with a belt. The boys managed to set up the tv and played video games while dad went out to buy groceries for dinner. I joked to him that he had to come home with ginger beer or I wasn't going to let him in.
The doorbell rang and I went to answer it. It was a really tall, I mean tall guy who also looked pretty close to my age who looked down to me. his hair looked like DiCaprio's in the 90's. he wore a simple white t-shirt with an 80's tuck into some jeans and a black and silver belt.
"Can I help you?" I asked politely.
"You're a whole heck shorter than I thought you'd be," he said dryly. what the fuck?
"You're a whole hell ruder than you look," I paused, "are you here to see James and Avery?"
He nodded, "The name's Ruel," he walked in.
"Hannah," I muttered, leading him into the living room.
"Boys, there's a dick here for you," I then walked outside to help dad with the groceries as their faces lit up and ruel's attitude changed when he saw them.
Dad and I made dinner and he called the boys to the table. I sat across from ruel and kian and sat between my brothers and my dad. I was quietly poking at my food when a question was aimed at me.
"So, what do you do?" ruel asked me as he smirked.
"As in...?" What do you do wasn't going to cut it. I do a lot and work hard at everything.
"Do you play instruments or do you model or what?" Dad already left the table because he had a work call. Avery modeled for Dior and James modeled for a couple smaller clothing lines.
"Yeah I do things. I play the ukulele, vlog, model, track, and surf," I drank some ginger beer.
"Surf?" Ruel said to himself, "Guess I'm going to challenge you at the beach one day and show you how good I am."
"Be my guest," I burped, "but you're gonna lose bitch."
"She's good, mate," Avery said as he drank the last of his ginger beer, "might wanna watch out. When she says she works hard on something, hell, she does."
"Well, I want to see how good she is," Kian said, laughing at Ruel's cockiness.
I smirked, "You bet."
Ruel started me in the eyes. not with hatred or anything...it was hard to tell what he was showing. It was definitely a serious face, not anger or jealousy either.
