Brad

I was a dead man. I already knew I was risking big  by taking Evan’s car again but when I realized that he wasn’t going to show up to the French literature class,I figured it was probably my fault  and started writing my death wishes on a piece of paper.Evan might be an outgoing guy who wouldn’t miss a party or a chance to get drunk but he was equally serious with his studies and practically never missed a class. I sighed and went back to writing… “Tell my mother I love her and don’t hate Evan for killing me.”

As I was scratching my head wondering  if  I had forgotten anything, Mr. Wood our hall monitor who happenned to also be in charge of the whole men’s dorm showed up in the middle of Mr. Barney’s lecture. Well that’s a first!

He made his way to the front of the classroom. He looked pale(I mean even more pale than usual). Mr Wood was a very tall, very thin and very bold man which earned him the nice nickname of “the chopstick".All he ever wore was velvet suits no matter how cold or hot it was outside and today he was sporting a brown one which he has been wearing for the past two months but who's counting ? He straightened his back, his pale blue eyes as bubbly as usual and crossed his arms over his chest.

He cleared his throat and demanded everybody’s attention.

“As some of you may have heard. The Section D of the girl’s dorm has recently been infected with termites. Don’t be alarmed the problem is now under control. However the young ladies who lived there are no longer able to stay in their dorm and since the rest of the girl’s dorm is sadly packed. The administration,Mrs Martin and myself decided that due to the circumstances the girls would move in the men’s dorm and stay there until further notice.”

After a few seconds of stunned silence ,a loud sound of cheers and grunting suddenly erupted in the auditorium.I even stood up and high fived some guy next to me. To say  that the male population of this school was pleased was definitely an understatement. Mr Barney tried in vain to tame the loud cheers of his students as Mr Wood shook his head several times before leaving the classroom a resigned look on his face.

I was beyond excited. True I had a girlfriend but sharing our showers with the ladies definitely cheered me up. What are you going to do ? I might be a tamed man but I  was still  a man nonetheless.

Seeing that there was no way he would be able to continue his lecture after this kind of news Mr Barney gave up and dismissed the class .I rushed outside to call Evan to give him back his car and offer to pay him a meal at Burton’s. I am sure he wouldn’t stay mad at me if I gave him such great news.

Evan

God I hated the tube ! It was always packed especially at lunch hour. I sighed and added another way to my list of  “How I was going to murder Brad when I finally saw him” Yeah I know it’s a lame name but work with me here I haven’t eaten anything since morning! The administration refused to give me a late note and I still couldn’t get those beautiful hazelnut eyes off my mind.

I almost fell over when I heard the engine roar and then stop. Guess I made it alive. I painfully made my way to the door and didn’t stop until I left the station . That’s  when I took a gulp of fresh air. God! I hated the smell of sweat. Didn’t people shower anymore ?

I shoved my hands in my pockets and made my way to Burton’s the only restaurant worth taking the tube for. Since Brad and I never ate at the school’s cafeteria Burton’s had become our principal food provider. I pushed the stained glassdoor and made my way in.

Burton’s was a very classic low key restaurant that looked more like an old diner from the eighties. The jukebox  was stuck in the same song since forever. Nobody knew that song and nobody tried to find out. Every now and then when people got fed up of hearing the same song again and again. Julio, the owner, would just turn off the jukebox and when the silence became too heavy he would turn it  back on.The huge  dark oak wood bar took up most of the space leaving only enough space for five or six booths and two sofas in the corner for the people who were too drunk to sit on the bar stools anymore. However, the best thing about Burton's (besides the food of course) was by far the windows. There were so many of them and they never failed to make the room always bright and welcoming no matter how shitty the weather was outside(which in London was pretty much everyday)
