I was in science when it all started. My cough-variant asthma , which is when you cough and can't stop, started up. "Anna, do you need to go to the nurse? Or get a drink of water?" Asked my science teacher Coach Cott. "No... I just... need my..... inhaler" I said in between coughs. I reached into my back pack and in one quick motion pulled it out and took two deep breathes in. I then notices that it tasted weird and looked at it in confusion. I turned it around to look at the description.
The description read that this medicine was for a lady named Linda. The medicine was named Restpitation. The purpose of the medicine was death! I shot up out of my seat and ran to the door. " Anna, Anna where are you going! Anna!" Coach Cott yelled and ran after me. "I, I have.... to go to....to the doctors," I said stuttering. "Okay, what happened," He said looking at me with concern. "They mixed up the medicine," I said shaking with fear. "Go, now! I won't tell the class." He said with anger and concern now. Me and Coach Cott were always close. he was the one teacher that if someone pick on me he would tell them to stop and he would always have my back. I ran out the door of the High School and into my 67 black 4-door Chevy Impala. On my fifth try to get the key in the ignition, I finally did. I drove to the Doctors hoping that this was all a dream.
When I got to the doctors I went up to the receptionist and asked if Dr.Jones was available. "I'm sorry ma'am but he is with a patient at the moment."
"Do you know when he is free?"
"He is free at... 3:00 this afternoon. Would you like to make an appointment?" At that moment Dr. Jones walked into the waiting room. "Anna, why are you here. Did some thing go wrong with your medicine?" He asked with concern written all over his face. "Yes, I got the wrong medicine. The name of it is Restpitation." "What! No this cant be! Come with me."
With out a second thought I followed Dr. Jones into one of the patients room. " Anna, did you inhale any of this medicine?" Dr. Jones asked. " Yes I started having an asthma attack earlier today. I only inhaled two times." I said. " This was how long ago?"
" 3 hours."
" Anna there is no way to say this kindly, your going to die in 3 months." " What! I can't die! I'm only 17!" I yelled. He took a step back, taken surprised by my reaction. " You have to do something!" I yelled while standing up.
"I can't. This medicine has been tested that when taken, there is no way to stop the process of death. Usually people who are really sick would take it to die, but it wouldn't be so painful for them. But if some one who took of is healthy it takes longer and is unbelievably painful!" He stopped to take a breath. " The 1st months is either the best mentally or the worst mentally. The 2nd month is when the symptoms start to happen. Dizziness, puking, lost of breath, and head aches. Then the last month is when you can barely move, you will have to be hospitalize. Then 3 months since you have taken the medicine, you simply die." At the end his voice was barely above a whisper.
After a minute, it all came crashing down on me. I was going to die. It keep repeating in my mind. I felt as if the walls were closing in on me, that the roof was about to fall. I had to get out of the room. The building. I ran out of the room, then the building, then I went into my car and drove. I didn't know where I was going but at about 1:36 I parked on the side of a back road. And cried my eyes out.
I, Anna Arch, who had brown hair, light natural purple eyes, thin red lips, was going to die at the age 17.
