It's the end. He knows there's no way back. He lost him, forever.
"Idiot. Idiot. Fucking idiot."
These are the only words Dave can think of. It's too late: David already took legal measures against him. And even if it was him and not Junior to won the cause, Dave doesn't feel relieved at all.
He doesn't care about Megadeth in this moment. He doesn't care about anything. Only David, his David. The little brother he named "Junior" when they meet; his best friend, the guy who was always there for him. His sunshine.
But now, he is without him. Their friendship is broken, probably forever. They probably will never talk to each other again. And Dave feels destroyed by this thought.
"I'll never see him again."
He just wants to hug him, to pass a hand through his hair, he wants to tell Junior everything he felt for him since the day they met. He just wants to tell him that he had always loved him. But he can't. Maybe all this pain is going to end forever... well, he hoped so before taking those little pills. Maybe it would have been less painful if he was dead.
So, he lays down on his bed and closes his eyes. Dave feels like Junior is softly pressing lips against his, like that time when they were drunk and David accidentally kissed him. But he knows, it's just his mind. He starts to feel horrible, he wants to scream. Now he can hear punches against the door.
"DAVE! DAVE! OPEN! YOU FUCKING IDIOT! FOR GOD'S SAKE OPEN THIS FUCKING DOOR!"
It's Junior. He can hear other two voices screaming, probably Chris and Vinnie. But he can't move. His breaths become heavier. He can't see anything now, only the darkness. Even his ears stopped working. He feels somebody: the stranger is holding his hand and keeping the other on his face. He recognizes those warm hands, they are David's.
"Maybe they're calling someone to save me, but I don't know if I'll be safe, they won't reach this place in time... I don't care, I'm happy now, David. I felt your hands one last time."
Last thing he feels, those lips against his. Junior is kissing him, but this time he isn't drunk. He wanted to do that and he did.
"Oh Junior, why didn't you before? I love you... I wish I could just wake up and hug you..."
"I love you too, Dave."
But Dave can't hear those words he always wanted to hear.
He will never hear that "I love you" said by his love.
"I will meet you in the next life, where we can be together, I will wait 'til then in heaven, I promise you, Junior.
I promise you."
