ANGELICA
I slammed my sword into the guys larynx and there was a blast of light, but I was too busy slamming my fist into another angels stomach, sending him flying. I swallowed and felt a blow hit my side. I dug my feet into the ground and twisted forward, the impact sliding off, leaving me with bruised rather than broken ribs. I slammed my sword into the woman angel beside me. I stopped and took a breath, looking around the clearing. Maybe Cas was right.
I had walked into the council chamber that morning in my council dress, the one I wore on the first day, and pressed my face into his neck. He rubbed my back gently and pressed his cheek against my hair. I pulled back after a minute and looked at the map. Rafael had his forces in a far corner of heaven, too far for us to mobilize all our forces there in good time and we had outposts all over heaven with contacts from hunters that were sympathetic or devote people who wanted to help. I didn’t want to involve the people but Castiel insisted.
He had been hard over the past two weeks, ever since he found out his friend Balthazar had died while he was gone. He had disappeared one day and been gone for several days before he came back, hundreds of souls in hand and power to enhance our battle plans within them. He wouldn’t tell me where he got them or why they smelled like smoke, but they had been dead for a while. He said he knew what he was doing and asked me to trust him. I did. I pointed to a small cluster of ‘Heavens’ and it enlarged, showing me five connected sections. One was almost like smoke, unsubstantial and it almost didn’t show up, but it was connected to every single place in heaven.
“I want to visit the family.” I said. Ash, mom, Jo and Ellen were there, probably with Mr. Harvelle as well. Cas looked at me in worry.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea. You could be attacked and hurt. Or taken hostage. Or killed. Or kidnapped. Or get lost, or knocked out. Or decide you don’t want to fight anymore. Or decide you don’t love me and leave me forever.” He said in an upset voice. I just stared at him. He eyed me warily. Did he really think that? I stepped back against his chest, sliding my hands up his chest and linking my fingers behind his neck. He looked down at me and I saw a spark of lust fly through them. I stood on my toes so I could be level with him and pressed my lips against his.
I meant for it to be short and sweet, very chaste, but Cas had become too human. He grabbed me around the back of my hips and pulled me closer and higher up on him so I was almost off the floor. His chest felt stiff from the chainmail but I didn’t care. He pressed his tongue on the spilt in my lips and I opened my mouth, letting him in. I moaned softly as he deepened the kiss, making me light headed and very hot. I pulled back and he sighed, pressing his forehead against mine.
“Cas, I will never abandon you. Not ever.” I whispered into his lips. He stole another kiss and set me down on the ground. I straightened my dress and placed a hand on his cheek, which he covered with his own. “I haven’t seen my mom in two years. I need to go tell her things.” I said with a smile. He nodded and looked back at the map.
“Take Mostofelees. He’ll protect you.” Cas said quietly. He looked a bit sad and I felt bad leaving him, but I needed to talk to mom. Tell her about what had happened. And apologize.
As I cleared my head Momo landed next to transforming midair and dropping the last few feet.
“M’lady, art thou hurt? M’lord wouldst ne’er forgive me if his newly blush’d bride were to die.” He said checking me for injury. I patted his head fondly.
“No, Momo. Just a few bruises. Now, where’s my mom?” I said looking around. I had been chased into a wooded area I didn’t recognize and my mental map wasn’t perfect. Yet.
“She is with Lord Ash in the recently destroyed Roadhouse. See?” He said pointing out to the little shed with a white symbol on it. I nodded and walked to it, opening the door and stepping in. I saw the Roadhouse. Tables, lights, chairs and all its beauty. I sighed and smiled fondly at the halfway house from my teen years. Then Ash barged in wearing a dorky mask and cape. I crossed my arms as he brandished a silver knife at me. He froze and pulled off the mask. Yup, Ash. Mullet and all.
“Ange?” he said hoarsely. I choked back a sob and ran to him. I had dated Ash for a few weeks back before the Winchesters even heard of me, but it hadn’t worked out well. Mostly because we just didn’t dig the cuddle up and love crap. He became like a brother to me. He hugged me and mumbled about how good it was to see me and how he had missed my dopey face.
“My dopey face?” I choked out, pulling back after a minute. “You’re in heaven and you live in the Roadhouse?” I said wiping my eyes. He shrugged.
“Best time of my life was in this building.” He said moving behind the bar to get me a beer. He tossed me the bottle and I banged the head on the table, knocking the top off. “Who’s the Goblin King?” Ash said pointing at Momo while he stabbed the bottom of his can. I grinned as he let the liquids dribble into his awaiting mouth.
“This is my man-servant and Messenger. Moriarty Mostofelees.” I said and Momo bowed. “We just call him Momo.” I said sitting at the bar. Ash looked at me.
“So, you’re the crazy new angel the radio’s buzzing about. Rafael wants you dead. He blames you for Castiel turning, you know.” He said staring at me. I sighed.
“You know?” I grumbled. Ash nodded. “Did you tell anyone?” He shook his head. “Good. I’d rather tell mom myself.” I said drinking from the bottle.
“Tell me what?” Came a voice I never thought I’d hear again. I span around in my seat and the bottle toppled of the table. There she was. Curly hair, wide smile, tanned skin, hipster jeans and large piercing eyes. She was looking at me with all the love I had missed, all the passion that our blood shared. I sniffed mightily and tumbled out of my seat and stumbled into her arms, sobbing into her shoulder as she held me close. “It’s all right sweetie. I’m here. It’s okay. Shh now darling. Shush.” My mother said.
