ANGELICA
We talked for a long time, not sure how long, but eventually Momo came in and said we needed to leave. I hugged my family goodbye. I stretched and moved myself back to the Citadel. I opened my eyes and was surprised to find the place empty. I followed the aura of the angels and Momo went off to do Momo things. I stepped into the room where the majority of the angels were gathered, having changed into my Turkish pants when I arrived and looked around. They were talking quietly, so I assumed they were waiting. I stepped into the room and they all fell silent as they looked at me. I blinked and moved deeper into their midst, looking for Cas.
They were all giving me venomous looks and it was seriously scaring me. They were all really mad, and all that angelic wrath was getting to me. I called out to Cas with my mind and felt his conscious and aura on the other side of the room I pushed my way over to him and he looked up. He was sitting in chair, two men on either side of him glaring at me. Cas looked hurt and betrayed. What happened? I hitched on a smile and walked over to him. Everyone seemed to be waiting for me to say something. I decided to ignore the elephant in the room.
“Hey, Cas. Jo says ‘Hi’ and mom says that you looked peaky last she saw you and that you should eat some food once in a while.” I said cheerily. They had, actually, said that, but I was taking my time, easing into the pool of problems here. Cas looked at me and his face grew impassive. He stood up and I could feel his emotions pulling back from me. I narrowed my eyes. “No.” I said forcefully and he stopped. He ran one hand through his hair.
“A word, Angelica.” He said coldly. I shuddered at the emptiness of his voice mixed with my full name. He hadn’t called really me Angelica in a long time. I followed him into a side room and he sat in a chair, rubbing his face tiredly. There was loud talking from the huge chamber we had just left and I locked the door by habit. He looked up at me. “Why, Angela?” he said in a hoarse voice. I blinked.
“Why what, Cas?” I asked sitting down opposite him. He suddenly stood up, a tower of rage.
“Why would you go behind my back and-and-and” He was floundering for words and I had no clue what was happening. “THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTRY!” He shouted at length. I blinked. Say what?
“Cas, what are you talking about?” I asked. He snorted in a most Dean-like way and started pacing the room. “Cas, I know the Commandments, well some of them. No all of them, actually. Wow, that’s new. No, Um. What are you talking about?” I asked weakly. He rounded on me.
“You said you loved me.” He said as his eyes grew wet. I paled. I ran to him and wrapped him up in a hug. He held onto me and buried his face in my neck. I hugged him tightly and he pulled back after a bit. “Why?” he asked, his cheeks wet and eyes red. I shook my head.
“Castiel, has anyone ever told you not everything you hear is true? When would I have had time to do that? I don’t know anyone here, really, and I was always with either you, Laura or Momo.” I said. Cas wiped his face angrily.
“Just now, all day, you were at Ash’s Heaven.”
“Yes, seeing my mother, Jo and Ellen.” I said calmly.
“Was Momo with you all the time?” He asked. I shook my head and he grew pale, as if his worst suspicion had been confirmed. I rubbed my face and sat down on the couch. Who had planted the bug in his era? It was impossible to get rid of an idea once it makes a home in the mind, so what had happened?
“Cas, look me in the eye and tell me you think I cheated on you.” I said looking up at him. He glanced at me and sat down beside me. He cupped my cheek in his hand and looked at my eyes, his expression growing more and more confused by the moment. “Cas, I would never ever, do anything that could ever even possibly hurt you.” I said softly, placing my hand over his. He blinked and I saw the fear and confusion leave him he pulled me into another tight hug and sighed in relief, breathing in his Promised Land scent.
“I don’t understand any of this. Why would they lie?” He mumbled.
“To drive us apart. This is war, and a weak leader and divided troops make the battle easy to win.” I said. He pulled back, and he had fury in his eyes.
“I’m going to kill them.” He said darkly. I placed a hand on his arm.
“I have a better idea.” I said. “They were obviously lying, and trying to drive us apart, so if they aren’t on our side, whose side are they on?” I prompted.
“Rafael.” Cas said immediately.
“Exactly. Whoever told you is an agent of Rafael, and they are sitting in that room out there.” I said sneakily. He realized where I was going with his and nodded. “Call them in here and we’ll deal with them.” I said standing up and cracking my knuckles. He nodded and made his way to the door. He called in two angels I didn’t know and as they stepped in, I searched their minds, quickly so I would know. Yes. Rafael. I grinned at them and they blanked at me. Then one drew a sword and flung it at me. I swatted it out of the air with my own angel blade and tackled the weaponless one to the ground. Cas was dealing with the other one and I easily knocked out my angel. I got off him and turned to see Cas kneeling on the other’s back. I summoned up a rope and tied him up, pinning him down. “Right, squeal little pig.” I growled.
