"Mummy are you going to come to Daddy's wedding?" Emma asked the next morning as they were getting dressed.
"Yes baby." She thought back to her conversation with Fletch the night before and smiled. Stupid annoying Fletch had managed to convince her...again, she thought as she helped her daughter to pull up her grey school tights.
"I'm going to wear a pretty pink dress and a sparkly tiara mummy!" Emma told her proudly.
"I know, I've seen a photo!" She replied, trying to sound just as excited as her daughter that Jonny was going to dress her up like a meringue. "Now come on we need to go and get some breakfast so that you can go to school and I can go to work."
"Are you going to see Uncle Fletch at work today?" The girl asked innocently.
"Probably. Depends where he's needed the most in the hospital darling. But I'll definitely see Uncle Sacha." Jac tried to divert the conversation away from the topic of a certain Fletcher.
"But you see Uncle Sacha every day because he lives here, Uncle Fletch doesn't." She replied indignantly.
"Emma how many times do I need to tell you baby, it's not Uncle Fletch, it's just Fletch."
"Is that because Fletch is Mummy's special friend? Like Talia is Daddy's special friend? Wait does this mean you're going to marry Fletch?" The girl jumped up and down excitedly.
"What?! No! Fletch is just a friend, not a special friend, just a friend okay?" Jac tried to explain, flustered.
"If you say so Mummy." Emma replied and skipped out of the room. The pair went downstairs and had their breakfast before shoving their arms into coats and bundling out of the door.
"Come on Emma, get your school bag! We're going to be late!" The mother had shouted up the stairs to her daughter. "We've got five minutes to get you to school before the bell rings! You don't want to be the last one in the classroom do you?" Jac knew how much hated being late, she took after her mother. Emma came storming down the stairs in her patent black shoes and pinafore and thirty seconds later they were in the car, strapping seatbelts across their bodies. The five year old was off to school and Jac was going to work to save some lives and to see "Uncle Fletch".
