Song of the Chapter: Plastic Flowers, The Front Bottoms
----two weeks later----
Eva's bags were piled up in the living room hallway and she sat on the floor of her room, staring at the walls covered in memories from the past few months she's been with the Urie family. She left for at least two weeks to regulate her eating and sleeping schedule. But, there was a very high chance she'd stay longer, upwards of a month and a half. It terrified her. The bands and her friends have been with her during everything and have watched her change into the person she was now. She didn't want to lose them, come home and see that they had given up on her, left her in the past. The mere thought caused tears to well in her eyes as they rolled off her cheeks and landed on her shaking palms. She could hear loud murmering from downstairs from all of the musicians that came to see her off before Brendon and Sarah dropped her off at St. Josephs, the mental rehabilitation center near Los Angelos for teens dealing with mental illness and addiction. A knock at the door startled Eva from her trance with the picture of her and Brendon on stage. Speak of the devil, the tall man stuck his head in and gave his daughter a sad smile. "Ready kid?"
Eva nodded, knowing that he knew she wasn't but knowing that she had no choice. It isn't that she didn't want to get better, but it's the fact that she'd spend an unknown amount of time away from the people that saved her. "You'll be okay, I promise. We will visit every single week and bring new members with us every time. We're not leaving you alone in all of this, darling." He helped her up and pulled her into a tight hug. He could feel his shirt grow damp from her tears as she trembled in his grip. "You're going to be okay," he whispered to her. Eventually, Brendon coaxed Eva from the room and led her downstairs to the mass of people in the living room. Josh met her at the bottom, scooping her up in a hug and whispering to her to keep her calm. She was passed around to Tyler and made her way through all of Fall Out Boy and Panic!. She faced Vic and nearly bursted into tears again. He pulled her into his chest. "Everything will get better, I promise. You deserve to live a happy life, E." She nodded into his chest and moved onto Jaime and Mike, hugging them tightly. Finally, she reached Tony, her rock, her brother, her savior.
They hugged each other tight. "I'm going to miss you so much Tone." He nodded and smoothed her hair down with his hand. "I'm going to miss you too. But, I'll visit. I promise. You'll be out of there before you know it." She looked into his eyes and mustered a smile as he kissed her head. She said her goodbyes to Spencer, Sam, Jane, Alex, and Theo last night because she knew that she wouldn't be able to leave if she saw them this morning. Brendon and Sarah met Eva at the door and carried her bags out to the car. They loaded up and backed out of the drive as everyone from the living room waved them off. Eva saw them shrinking in the distance and took a shuttery breath. She wasn't ready to say goodbye.
Within an hour, they pulled up outside of the hospital. Through the glass doors, Eva saw guards and metal detectors, nurses walking past with clipboards in hand, patients trudging around the floor. "Do I belong here?"
The small family grabbed Eva's belongings and walked through the front door, walking through the small security station and going up to the front desk. The nurse looked up and smiled brightly, creating a suddenly warmer aura to the room. Brendon smiled back before speaking. "We're checking Eva Urie in." She nodded and typed on the computer pulling up the files from Dr. Miranda and finding her information. "Ahh, here we are. Eva, your doctor will be Dr. Sella. He will be seeing you everyday for check-ins and progress marks. His office is right through that door, all three of you are welcome to go in an meet him to talk about the plan for your program." Brendon nodded and thanked the nurse before leading the way to the office.
The three walked in and sat down after introducing themselves to the doctor. "Hello, I'm Dr. Sella. I'll be the main care provider for Eva during her stay here. I know everything can be very overwhelming at first here, but I promise you that you are in good hands here." Eva nodded and smiled slightly before looking down at her lap. In moments like this she'd text one of the guys, but they took her phone at security and gave it to Brendon until her program ended. "The main goal of your stay here is to get you physically healthy and give you the best coping techniques possible to help your mental health. I'm sure as you know, treating things like depression is difficult and it may never fully leave, but we want to help you see a new perspective and feel as if you can handle it better than you do currently." The doctor continued on by discussing the schedule for everyday and the types of activities and therapies Eva would be going to throughout the week. She zoned out, semi-listening but still getting caught up in thinking about spending time away from everyone. "Are you ready to see your room?" Eva looked up an realized that Dr. Sella had finished talking. She smiled and nodded. Brendon and Sarah stood up, shook the doctor's hand again, and hugged their daughter. "We'll see you really soon, baby. I promise." Brendon whispered to her. Eva nodded and kissed each of their cheeks before watching them leave and following a nurse to her room. It was practically empty, only a bed, desk and night stand with a window to let light in. "Lunch is served in a hour and the rest of the day is your to adjust."
"Thank you," Eva whispered as the nurse walked out. She sat on the bed and stared out the window, already feeling like she'd get no where through this program.
