Dracula's skin prickled with excitement. There was someone--something--awaiting him at the top of the tower. Although he found this all tedious, he could not deny his impulsive nature of seeking conflict and destruction. Whoever awaited him was surely going to provide him with good exercise.

He inhaled the scent of magic and pinpointed the stench coming from the spiral stairs up ahead. The power emanating from this unknown presence was dark and sinister. It smelled of the countess but he was no fool to believe it was her.

A ploy. Without hesitation, his long legs began to move him towards the stairs and towards the ominous presence that seemed to be expecting him.

The staircase seemed endless, spiraling upwards until darkness obscured the rest of the steps from Dracula's view. He tried to adjust his eyes, but his sight could not penetrate through the thick shadows.

Damn it.

Normally, darkness was his friend and companion, but not now. Even his eyesight had been drastically affected by this magic.

Yet my sense of scent is as good as ever. He smiled wryly.

His humor did not last long, not after the thought of being forced to walk up the stair as a cursed mortal passed through his thoughts. He glowered.

Deciding not to bid his time, Dracula decided to take his first step, which he quickly regretted the moment he felt the vibration of stone underneath his foot.

These steps are going to collapse!

He let out a few curses before inhaling a deep breath, pushing himself to surge forwards before he could fall to his death.

He could not flit through with his inhuman speed and was forced to sprint as fast as his body could take him.

The steps beneath him began to quack and crumble, falling apart until they descended towards a pit of nothingness. Dracula spared a quick glance behind him, seeing nothing but open space and a sheer drop that seemed to have no end.

"Damn them all to hell." He hissed, pumping his arms in order to gain more speed. He needed to reach the top before the stairs degenerated completely beneath him. At the rate they were deteriorating, he would barely make it to the top unscathed.

He would obliterate this enchantment with his bare hands once he got to Angelique.

"Are you afraid?" The woman asked.

"Y-Yes."

The mysterious beauty smiled, striking the young woman with fear. No longer did it look like the woman wished to comfort her--she grew tired of the charade.

"He is almost here, I can sense it." The woman said, bitterly. She began to circle the skittish girl who desperately clenched unto the bedsheets, her eyes following her every move. "He is strong, perhaps stronger than my magic," she whispered to herself.

What magic?

Her shrewd gaze fell back on her, her red blood lips turned into a cruel grin.

"I will have to kill you."
