I don't know where am going, just walking aimlessly with so many thoughts in my head, most of which revolve around my "mate". Honestly, I don't even believe in soul mates but according to the legends, we wolves come in this world in pairs and spend our whole lives searching for that other half. They say finding your destined partner is the best thing that could happen to a wolf but if you ask me it's rather painful. Imagine your life revolving around a person who has power to either make you or break you, that person is the only one you see and feel and your life depends on that person because once you mate, a bond is created, you feel what they feel and it gets worse when your mate dies, you suffer a living death. And honestly I can't imagine myself being so in love with someone. Maybe that's why I'm still a mate less alpha at the age of 25 but I don't mind I like being alone in my own vicinity.
As I was lost in my thoughts I soon realised that I was still walking so I got rid of my thoughts to focus on exactly where I am heading. I looked around, it was a beautiful trail which am sure I've never seen before. It was calming and unknowingly a smile crept on my face. I walked silently and soon my steps halted when I heard a melodious voice singing, it wasn't a overly sweet voice but a vibrant, velvety voice, the kind that makes you feel things. I started approaching the direction from where the voice was coming and soon I found myself in front of a small clearance that was surrounded by beautiful flower beds and there I saw a boy sitting underneath a big oak tree, his face hidden from my vision. Even though I couldn't see his face but I was sure that he was gorgeous. That's when a soft wind blew past him and a sweet scent hit me, it was a mix of vanilla and honey and I swear on moon goddess that it was the most addictive scent I've ever smelled. I couldn't control myself and slowly walked towards him, he was writing something in a diary while he hummed a song I didn't know but for sure I could listen to him sing forever. And I guess the boy sensed someone approaching him as he stopped writing and looked up. The moment our eyes met, my world stood frozen, everything around me blurred and the only thing I could focus upon was those two golden orbs staring back at me. My inner alpha was jumping with joy as he finally found his mate. Yes I found my mate, my omega, my missing half. The haze I was in broke when I saw the golden in his eyes turn back to his usual brown colour. I blinked a few times before crouching down to his level and studied his features, I was right he is really beautiful.
"Yo-your e-eyes...... "
"And What about them?"
"They flashed red a while ago"
"Yours turned golden too"
"Do you know what it means when an alpha's eyes flash red or when an omega's eyes flash golden?"
He gasped audibly when realisation hit him and with wide eyes he whispered
"You're my mate"
He was so cute like this, all shook and confused that I couldn't help but smile like an idiot
"Yes" I answered as I tucked a strand of his hair behind his ear. The moment my fingertips touched his skin a jolt of electricity passed through me and I guess the same happened with him as he shivered visibly. I retreated my hand quickly and looked at him, he was trying to control his blush but a tint of pink already decorated his lovely cheeks. He looked at me again, took a long breath and said
"Took you long enough"
"Sorry, I was a jerk"
"Yes, My jerk"
"Only yours"
I smiled and took his hand in mine and there in that moment as I gazed at him I could see all my beliefs turn into smoke and float away. I could easily see myself falling in love with him and I promised myself that I would do anything and everything in my power to keep him happy and love him till my last breath. Now I know what they mean when they say that finding your mate is the best thing that could happen to you. He's the best thing that ever happened to me.
