Harry brought the last cardboard box to the moving truck. He looked back at the brick townhouse he had come to love for the past year. He blinked away all of the fond memories, trying to suppress any emotions he once had. They didn’t matter anymore. He was starting over once again. Another new town, another new house, more new faces, new people, no heartbreak, and no remorse. Just like it always had been.
“Ready to go, honey?” Anne asked her son, while slugging an arm around his waist. He faced looked sad, and dry. She tried her best to hide her pain. She had to be strong for her son, as she always was.
He just nodded and crossed his arms. “I forgot something; I’ll meet you in the truck.” Harry said quietly.
The boy ran inside and walked to his bedroom. The walls looked empty without the taped pictures, posters, and concert ticket stubs on them. The room seemed so much larger and smaller at the same time. It was strange, really. He walked over to the air conditioning vent and removed the metal that rested on top of it. He reached his hand down and grabbed the chain that he felt, he pulled it out. It was a necklace, the one that Louis gave him on the night they made love for the first time. The night they said they loved each other. Harry bit back a tear and chewed on his bottom lip as he stuffed the locket in his jean’s pocket. He looked over his bedroom one last time and ran out to the car.
“Wait!” A voice called.
Harry turned around to see his ex-boyfriend’s face. His blue eyes suddenly looked pale and not as full of life as they usually were. “Please, just wait five seconds. Please.” Louis said, his voice sounding tired.
“What?” Harry replied weakly, while leaning against the large moving van.
“Don’t do this. You don’t have to do this, Haz.” Louis stepped closer to his love. “Just, stay. Please.”
“It’s too late Louis, you’re too late.” Harry ran his fingers through his hands and shivered. This cold winter morning seemed even more bleak and hopeless.
“No, it’s not. Stop staying that. I know you still love me. I love you so much. Please, I’m sorry Hazza. I’m so sorry. One more chance. Please, I’ll do anything. Anything you want me to do.” Louis cried out, his breath visible in the stark air.
“You already had enough chances, Louis. It’s too late, I already told you. Will you just leave me alone? Please?” Harry begged, using all of his willpower not to cry like a child.
“I will never leave you alone, Harry Styles. Never.”
The van door opened. “I think you’ve done enough, Louis. Please, just leave.” Anne’s voice was caring. Genuinely. Louis had become another son to her, she loved him. She hated this just as much as her son did. She hated to see him broken like this. “Come on Harry, it’s time to go.” She grabbed Harry by the hand and pulled him into the car, shutting the door behind him.
“Please, Mrs.Cox-“
“Don’t try to contact my son anymore, please. He’s seriously hurting. And, he doesn’t need you to make it any worse, Louis.” She gave the boy a quick hug, “Take care, okay?” She gave a sweet smile and she turned to the car.
They were gone, this was over. Harry was officially gone. There was no turning back now. He would never hold his Hazza again. He’d never kiss his shoulder. He’s never hear his voice. Everything was over. Tears crept over Louis’ eyes as his knees buckled and he fell to the cold ground, the moving van now completely out of sight.
“Bye Hazza.” Louis squeaked.
