I went out on a walk today

My mom said that "some sunlight would do good for me"

I hate the sun

I hate the day

But I did as she said

And when I walked outside I saw him

He sat on the cold ground

Against a tree

Just staring blankly out in the air

In just jeans and a baggy sweater

As I walked by he quickly got up and walked away

Flashing a tiny, almost excusing smile before disappearing into the not at all crowded streets

I really wanted to say something

But what would I say?

"Hey I live next door, I like to watch you when you sleep"
