...There was once a guy named Carlo. He was 15 years old and a highschool student. He was one of the basketball varsity player of a known university in Ocklahoma City. He is tall and the best basketball player in their community. His top priority is playing basketball and his girlfriend. He never minds his grades - which were a bit lower than last time. Many girls liked him because he has a nice attitude. He had never been caught in a fight. There is only one problem: every month, he had severe problems with his head. He said to his friends that he felt dizzy then a sharp pain in his head like it was pounded by a huge hammer. He only told it to them like it was a funny joke but his friends were worried about him especially his girlfriend, Katie. They tried to ask him if he was ok, but his only reply is that he's fine and just laugh about it telling to stop worrying about him. They just then ignored about his health and focus on their studies except for Carlo who still is focused on playing basketball.
Several months came until the first day of the winter season. It was cold and frosty and the nice view of the snow-topped mountains from afar is very pleasing to the eye. It was also a day before his 16th birthday. Katie wants to invite all of their friends for a small party. She called Carlo and tell if it's alright to invite everyone on his condo unit. Carlo approved telling her that they should buy him a nice chocolate cake for everyone to share. Katie agrees to his wish and also saaid said to him that she has a gift for him. After that call, she quickly went to a bakeshop to buy the cake along with her two other friends. They ordered the cake and agrees to pick it up tomorrow at 8 in the morning. Tomorrow came and it was Carlo's birthday. Katie and all of their friends met in their secret meeting place. They planned what to do and organized a small program for him. At exactly 8 o' clock, they went to the bake shop to pick the cake up. After they got the cake, they quickly went to the condo unit of Carlo a few blocks away from the university. They went up to the 7th floor of the bulding and knocked at his unit. They were lucky because it snowed hard as they were going up the building. They were surprised that he was not opening the door - not even a single word was heard inside. Silence filled the corridor as they opened violently the door. Everyone was shocked. Some shouted. Some screamed. Some cied. His girlfriend, Katie was brokenhearted the moment she saw him. They saw Carlo laying on the floor as if he was dead. They don't know the reason why. They quickly called the ambulance and went to the hospital. Some were crying and some were praying for his quick recovery. They don't know what to do if one of their friend - not just only a friend, but a best friend died instantly.... He's very young and talented, but why did this happened to him? Why did this tragedy struck this time? Their only question is why... Why?
Hours passed and the doctors finally came out of the emergency room. The doctors said who is the closest relative of the patient. Katie raised her hand and said that she was his girlfriend. The doctors said that Carlo needs to be brought to ICU for survival. Katie sobbed quietly. She said to the doctors to do everything they need to do just let him survive. The doctors said that it was possible to heal Carlo but not in that hospital the doctorss said that his conditions is very fatal if they operated him instantly and without the presence of proper equipments. Katie asked what is his sickness. The doctors said that he has a severe case of brain tumor and that it has expanded as large as his brain. Katie cried quietly again. She said to herself why does it have to be him, why does he need to suffer more. The doctors recommend that if it's possible, contact Carlo's parents and tell them to transfer Carlo to a hospital in Japan where he will survive with high chances. Katie was surprised but agreed for the survival of Carlo, she spoke to the doctors if it is possible to visit him in his room. They let her visit Carlo in his room for a period of 30 minutes because of certain conditions.
As Katie went inside the room, he grasped Carlo's hands and cried. She hugged him softly and kissed him on the cheek lightly. She then brought out her supposed gift for him. It was a necklace. A pair necklace. She placed the other hair of the necklace in his neck and said that this was the symbol of their love. A love that will end forever and eternally. A love that will conquer all. A love that they will only share as long as they live. But she felt sad that the love they promised will not be forever and eternal anymore, it will end because of a tragedy that happened on the day of his birth.
The doctors was successful in informing the parents of Carlo. They quickly went to the hospital and arranged their flight to Japan the next morning. Katie was still there, sobbing and weeping silently as they fix his things. The next morning came, Carlo's family went to the airport for their flight. She come there along with their friends. They said that it will only be a short time and that he will come back again before they even know it. Katie's heart was filled with tears as her friends console her. They are sure that Carlo will recover in Japan no matter happens.
Three sad years later...
The operations was successful and they removed the tumor from Carlo's head. The Japanese doctors said that it was truly a miracle. Unfortunately, he only remembers his family. He couldn't remember anymore about his past - his school, his friends and his girlfriend - Katie. The family then proposed to go back to Ocklahoma for Carlo to finish his studies. They arrived at Ocklahoma City the last week of the Autumn season.
It was again the first day of Winter. It was cold, windy and cool. Katie was walking down the streets where she suddenly bumped into a running guy. The guy never looked back and it made Katie furious. She suddenly remember someone on that guy - Carlo. She couldn't let go and will always remember Carlo. Everyday watching the clouds and everynight watching the stars hoping that Carlo will soon return. The next day, Katie went alone to their secret meeting place. She remembered it was Carlos' birthday and the day she found out his sickness. She sobs silently until it started to snow hard. Leaving the fresh memories of Carlo with her. She then was surprised when she saw someone walking nearer and nearer the place. She knew the face of the guy and she couldn't believe it. It was Carlo! Her heart was then filled with joy as she runs towards him and hug him tight. The guy was then surprised saying who are you, without showing any sign of remembrance. Katie then felt lonely when she heard him. She saw the necklace she gave him and he was still wearing it. Katie then said to him if he knows who gave the necklace to him. Carlo then said, "I know who gave me this necklace. I'm just sure that this person is very important me and that who loves me. But unfortunately, I couldn't remember anything.". As Katie heard the words he said, she began to cry and said while standing in front of him and the snow is still pouring... "I wish the snow before the incident stopped. Maybe if it stopped completely, you will remember everything. Who gave that necklace to you and the person that is very important to you and loves you the most.' Katie wept and left the place brokenhearted.
