A Sad Story

Chapter 1

Her life is full of the unknown, she doesn't have parents anymore and never really knew them, she lives with people who are strangers to her and she has no idea of what is happeining. The only things that she is sure of is her age, name and birthday. She is too young to have to deal with all of this, too young to have lost so much.

Her name is Emma and she is 8 years old, she is a foster child, but not abondoned by her parents. Her parents died in a terrible accident. When Emma was 6, someone lit their house on fire, her parents managed to get her to safety, but had to go back into the burning wreck to try and save her little brother Charlie. 

Her parents never came out with her little brother, they didn't come out at all. Emma was so young when it all happened, but she remembers every dreadful second of the whole incident. Although she may not understand why her house was the one lit on fire or why she was saved instead of her brother, she is still hurt from losing the people closest to her.

After this terrifying event, Emma was given to the foster homes, she has already been in a few homes, but they sent her back because she wasn't friendly or talkative. Emma mainly kept to herself most of the time. After her parents died she became a quiet and shy girl who pushed people away in fear that she would lose someone close to her again.

One day, a young woman walked into the foster home looking for a child to look after. Her name was Emily Aldertree, she was a single, rich, young woman who wanted a child in her life to look after. Emma was the only child in the foster homes at the time. The woman that run the foster homes, Amelia, was a kind lady. She pitied Emma because she knew what the poor girl had gone through.

Amelia fetched Emma trying to cheer her up that she was going to go into another home, which to Emma wasn't really exciting because she thought that she would be brought back to the foster homes again after a while because, as usual people didn't get her. She was a smart girl for her age. She was the top of her year 3 class. 

Emily's eyes lit up when she saw Emma, although Emma wasn't much of a sight at first with her brown tangled hair and blank expression, she was still a child that needed a home. Emily couldn't wait to take Emma home and spoil her. She just had to sign some papers to say that she was looking after Emma and then she could take her home.

Once all of that was done Emma followed Emily outside, she had no bags to carry because she only owned the clothes on her back and a small teddy that she was holding when her parents saved her from the fire. This teddy was the last thing that she had that connected her with her parents and brother. 

Once in Emily's purple convertible, Emily asked "Are you excited Emma, a new home, new toys, new clothes, you can have anything you want".

"...", Emma didn't reply, which wasn't unusual because she was a shy kid.

Emily was smart enough to relise this and smiled at her. She didn't yet know of Emma's story about her parents and brother yet, but she would find out in good time.

Although Emma's sorry was a sad one, there was always room for new beginnings and this may be one. They arrived at a large, white house with a football field sized yard and a fountain next to the driveway.

Emma's eyes opened wide, she couldn't believe this was going to be where she spent her days until Emily got sick of her and sent her back to the foster homes. It made Emma feel somewhat excited, more excited than she has felt in a long time.

She got out of the car curiously although not speaking a word, she took in her surroundings. She couldn't believe her eyes, it was like heaven on earth to her.

Emily knew that Emma poetically hadn't seen a house like hers before so she didn't mind waiting for Emma to finish looking around.

When she was done, Emily showed Emma her new room, where her new toys were and clothes.
