CHAPTER 1: FLOATING LETTERS

Life is really weird especially when you are a demigod. I mean, I see things that normal kids don’t. So if you feel like you somehow relate as this story goes on STOP. If you realized that you are already a demigod; your life would not be so safe. I promise you.

But if you are like any normal kid in the world, let’s exchange places. Honestly, being a demigod is very difficult. You get chased by monsters or monsters want to kill you or the other way around.

You are lucky for being a normal being because you can read this. I am giving you the permission to read this but if you do not want then don’t. I am not persuading you to do so.

     My name is Leigh Crimson.

     I am thirteen years old.

Want some facts? Well, I am quite an intelligent person that is why I transfer from school to school. I was studying at a public school but now I am studying at the second best private school in New York.

My mom has no trouble with paying my tuition fee. I am a scholar after all.

But I am having troubles with my new school. Why? I feel weird. Something I never felt before. I think that I am being watched. But I have not seen anyone following me around only a shadow appears then disappear after I have seen it for a second.

Today is really confusing. It was like something was contradicting another thing. Like our Latin-slash-History and Algebra teacher. Since this new teacher, Ms. Rufy, arrived some things became confusing.

One time we opened up this problem to our Latin-slash-History teacher, Mr. Ron. He was discussing about the heroic deeds of the gods and goddesses, The Big Three in particular. I raised my hand in the middle of the discussion.

“Mr. Crimson?” he asked, looking confused.

“According to you, Zeus is the god of the sky, Poseidon is the god of the sea, and Hades is the god of the dead and they use their powers to keep mortals safe and well-disciplined,”I said.

“Yes, I did say those words. What is your point Mr. Crimson?” he looks concerned as he said those words. Why was he concerned or maybe it was my imagination. I can’t tell. His concerned face turned into a blank one immediately. That’s why I do not know if I saw him look at me with concern or I just imagined those things.

“My point is, why does our new Algebra teacher claims that the Big Three used their powers for evil?” he looked quite shocked. As if he was wondering how someone could have said those things without even knowing them.

“Your Algebra teacher might have no knowledge about the gods and the goddesses nor the Big Three,” the whole class laughed before he continued, “Besides he or she is major in Algebra not Latin nor History,” that made things clear. Mr. Ron is right. Ms. Rufy is an Algebra teacher not a Latin nor History teacher. That makes sense. Why am I even interested? I just feel something strange about our new Algebra teacher like Mr. Ron but in a different manner. It’s like a dark aura is surrounding her. Ugh! I must have been studying Latin and History too much.

“Okay class, since Mr. Crimson here got interested with the Greek gods and goddesses I think that we should go on a field trip,” the class groaned and started to give me glares. No one likes field trips but I’m suspecting that this time it is going to be different. Something is telling me that I should keep my eyes open during the trip. There might be a problem.

**********

“Mr. Crimson, I am asking you who are these?” Mr. Ron asked. I was not listening because I was too distracted about my dream, or as anyone else call it - a nightmare. It seemed strange. I was there and also a person who has legs like a donkey. Weird, right? There was also something that has wings and was flying. It was chasing us. I could not say that it is a butterfly because they are way too different. It was like a bat’s wing not a butterfly’s.

“Mr. Crimson!” I was stopped in the middle of my thinking when Mr. Ron called me again. We are already in one of the best museums in New York wherein you could find different statues and sections of each Greek god and goddesses.

“Yes, sir?” I asked, a liitle distracted.

“Are you listening?” he asked. There was no sense of irritation in his voice.

“What was your question sir?” he let out a deep sigh and repeated his question. Calmness can be sensed in his voice.

“Who are these three?” I looked at the caption.

     SEUZ, SNOPEIDO, NAD DEHAS

It was somehow jumbled or maybe in Greek. What’s weird was the letters started to float and rearrange by themselves. Forming a new caption.

     ZEUS, POSEIDON, AND HADES

As it formed, I knew who those three are.

“Those are Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. The Big Three. The sons of Kronos.” I answered.

“Very good, Mr. Crimson,” he said while nodding. We continued the discussion about the tour. That was weird. What happened was really weird. I swore that those letters really did float. Do letters really float? Do they rearrange themselves? This is crazy!

I was the last in the line because I was still thinking of what happened. That was odd. It was like no one saw it. I was the only one who was shocked. I must be the only one who saw those letters float. That’s weird. Completely weird and crazy.

I am going back to the doctor after this tour. I must have dyslexia.

     Yeah, dyslexia.

I looked at my front and notice that the class was ten feet away from me. I started to keep up and continue the tour but I was stopped.

     I sense something familiar.

     I sense someone familiar.

     I sense her.
