This book is about a lot of things. Clearly, it's about technology. It's about our dependence upon technology, our addiction to it, and our willingness to ever embrace it more and more everyday with little to no questioning the consequences. The world and technology presented in the novel in 2077 are both impressive and frightening at the same time. Yet, one has to ask if our current technologies are really all that inferior to the technologies that plague Aurelia in 2077.
And yet, while this story's starting point is the technology that drives the protagonist to risk a daring escape, it's about so much more. Questions about friendship, trust, and human mortality weave in and out the adventure.
I appreciate people taking time to read this work. It means a lot to me. Ultimately, I hope those that read it relate to the characters. I hope readers pause and question their own use of technology, even as they read this tale on an electronic screen. More than anything, I hope the story teaches us that we need to talk about things. Even when things aren't OK.
