Raven felt tendrils of cold, violent, mist wrap around her exposed arms and a shiver racked her spine. After a few moments of contemplation, her eyelids slowly fluttered open. Raven couldn't place her finger on it, but something was wrong...extremely wrong.

"Ivanna...?" she called out, her voice raspy from an uneasy sleep. Raven heard no reply from her older sister. The foreboding feeling intensified, and she blinked away tears.

Only after the teary, blurred vision was rubbed away by cold hands and the wave of confusion dissipated, had she noticed that all of the candles had been blown out, the candle wicks still smouldering. Unstoppable panic settled into the pit of her stomach. Raven carefully crawled out of the bed and searched for the matches, her heart racing, and her mind flooding with unanswered questions. How did the candles blow out? Where's Ivanna?

Suddenly, there was knocking on the window. Raven flinched, and instantly shut her eyes, inhaling slowly to make sure she wouldn't hyperventilate. She got ready to strike the match, and her hands trembled violently, one specific thought echoing inside her head. What if she was too late?

"Don't light the candle," whispered Ivanna, her voice muted, and coming from outside of the window.

Ravens heart dropped. Ignore...ignore...ignore...

Silence...

Raven left the room, barefoot, paying attention to every floorboard as they creaked uncomfortably beneath her weight. This time, what churned in the pit of her stomach was not panic, but raw terror. It was almost like the mist wrapped itself around her neck like a noose, pulling tighter with each second; suffocating her. She looked around in the complete darkness -every corner that was usually lit with candles was bare - shadows lurking within. But that was nowhere near the worst. The front door was ajar, allowing the biting wind to flow inside, stirring awake everything that was supposed to be lifeless...

What happened next was a distant blur, but that didn't matter to Raven. All that mattered to her, was that Ivanna was gone.
