I see them, I knew they would come, I told him that they would come here but he didn’t believe me. I watch them, holding hands as they walked up the abandoned path that lead to the crumbling house.

I remember when that was us. .  . . I shook my head then focused on the couple who were now eyeing up the house, they looked scared. To be honest I felt sorry for them, but I remembered my deal and that all went away.

I have been watching them for about a week since they got dared by some of their mates to enter the ‘Hell house’ as they call it and sleep there for the night. The couple accepted as they didn’t believe that it was haunted and they cared more about their reputation.

I watch them open the door with caution, they stepped through the doorway and as soon as they were far enough inside the house I slammed the door shut. I slammed it so hard that I know it would stay shut, they both jumped around and grabbed onto the door handle, but they fell on to the grotty floor as it snapped off the door. I chuckled at this and it echoed all through the house and when it hit the couples ears they looked at the place it had come from. They stared at me but they couldn’t see me.

“Who’s there?” the girl said looking around with her voice full of nothing but fear.

“You know who I am, you’ve heard the stories, you’ve imagined what I’m like and you have also seen me in your dreams.” I make my voice echo through the halls. They stood up standing back to back, still holding hands.  A single tear ran down the girls pale face, but she soon wiped it away and tried to put on a brave face.  I floated around them; they could sense I was here, it sent goose bumps running up their arms.

“You can’t be, it’s just a story, it’s not real.” The boy said suddenly, his voice deep with fear and confusion.  “And that’s why you came here, because you didn’t believe in the horror stories?” I replied with a smirk on my face. They just replied with a simple nod of their heads. “That was stupid.” I simply stated.  The horror on their faces increased as I said that. They started running towards the stairs, but I stayed where I was letting them run. They wouldn’t be able to get out anyway. I thought about letting them leave, as they were the first couple to come here.

I thought I could handle it, but it’s only been one year to the day, I can’t forget. I made a deal to keep him alive and I can’t go back on that deal, so I have to finish this but.....  why can’t I?

I decided to show myself as I went up the stairs to find them. They were in the bedroom sitting on the bed huddling up to each other. I can remember when I sat there with him, exactly as they are now.

I as I walk through the door both their head snap up to stare at me, they slowly back away until they are at the head of the bed and they can’t go any further. “Wh-who are yo-you?” the girl stutters as I walk closer and sit on the edge of the bed.  “Didn’t you listen while we were down there?”I snapped angrily while pointing toward the stairs. “You’re the girl who lives but never survived, aren’t you?” the girls says with a bit more confidence. I nod once as they both stare in horror but with a tint of amazement in their eyes. “I’m Minnie. What’s your names?” I asked with a hint of interest. “I’m Isabelle.” she says shyly. “And I’m Harry.” He says, but he’s not sure whether they could trust me or not by the look on his face.

I stand up suddenly “Harry?” I ask quietly. He nods confused. “that was his name.” I mutter to myself. “Who’s name?” Isabelle says with interest. I paused, she wasn’t meant to hear that. I finally decide to tell them about him and my deal.

They sit there staring at me with amazement on their faces as I explain everything, a tear runs down my almost transparent face and drops silently onto the covers of the bed, but kept the face that has been scaring them. “Everyone who comes into this house becomes my target, that’s my deal.” I finish.

Amazement is still on Harry’s face, but realisation begins to spread into Isabelle’s eye and tears start to well up in her eyes. “We’re not getting out of here, are we?” she asks as the tears overflow down her face. Harry’s face turns white as the realisation of the horror shows in his eyes. “I don’t know how to get out of the deal.” I say as I shake my head. “What happens if you break the deal?” Isabelle asks curiously. “He dies.” I say simply. “That’s not too bad, then he can be with you.” Harry says hopefully. I shake my head “no, he goes into the afterlife, but I stay here forever.”

An oh escapes the couples lips, “What am I doing?” I thought, just do it my brain tells me, but my heart aches as if to say “don’t”.

I decided to go with my brain and go for it snapping out of the trace I was in and made my face look angry as I glared at them.

“You might want to run!”  I said, they stared in fear as I walk towards them, the tears run down my cheeks.

The last thing they both hear is shouting over their screams of fear

“Don’t ever make a deal with death!”
