twenty five.

the spring breeze blew through my light brown hair and grey eyes focused on the book which was sat on my lap. it was may and exams were coming up in a couple of weeks but i needed a break from studying. lily drove me mad. she kept stressing me out about studying more than i needed too.

so here i sat 12th of april 1978. skipping my stupid classes which i very much needed to attend at the current moment although i didn't mind.

"Ms Lupin why are you not in class." I looked up at the voice closing my book before getting up to face Professor Mcgonagall.

"uh i had a free period?" i said trying to sound convincing.

"Oh well," she paused for a second her fingers rested on her chin before speaking up. "So Dumbledore and i hear your a fantastic singer am i right?" fuck you melanie you little snitch. i swear to god.

"I suppose so Professor."

"We would like to know if you would want to sing the first song at the ball then you can have fun with your date." I smiled before i began to nod.

"I'd love that very much Professor thankyou." She smiled at me before turning around walking away.

"This is the only time you're off detention Ms Lupin." i sighed in relief before sitting at my spot under the tree once again.

Opening up my book i began to become lost in the book. lost in another world that i would never get it experience fully or properly ever. though must i say i'd love to.

"Fawn!" i slapped my book shut at the voice and saw the one and only james potter headed towards me.

"Prongs how can i help you?" i came over to me pulling me up and grabbed my hands.

"Would you make me the luckiest person ever at hogwarts and go to the ball with me." my stomach fluttered with butterflies and i grinned at him.

"Hmm. of course jamie." he pulled me close to him hugging me as tight as he could. "james. fleamont. potter. i. can't. fucking. breath."

letting go he pulled away standing back and starring at me sheepishly. i placed a kiss on his cheeks and saw his cheek heat up to a light pink colour.

"Awh is James Potter blushing."

"You very much know why i am now i just have to get you to admit your love for me."

"And if i don't."

"I'll wait forever until you do."

"Forever?"

"Till death due us part."

"We aren't getting married you sap." I said as i picked my book up from the ground brushing the dirt off.

"Not yet at least."

i rolled my eyes. "not quite sure if remus would let us."

"he'd have to warm up to the fact that we are utterly in love with each other at one point."

"james i do not love you."

"that's not what drunk you said on saturday." i pushed him slightly getting a chuckle out of him.

"i was stressed okay." i exclaimed.

he chuckled at me before wrapping a arm around my shoulder and pulling me closer. "so you decided to down two bottles of vodka." he whispered into my ear which drove shivers down my spine.

"okay sush."

"make me." i rolled my eyes before i turned to him placing my lips onto his soft ones before pulling back quickly.

he's cheeks heated up onto the reddest i had ever seen them and his eyes widened. "i think you're a bit red james."

i turned around and began walking away from the boy into the great hall as the punch bell had just gone. "stupid, stupid why did you just kiss him merlin y/n."

i continued to curse under my breath before i saw melanie, gabbie, lily, darcy and tanya sat together and i slid into a seat next to the group.

"hello all."

darcy looked up grinning at us. "ash draw asked me to the ball." i smiled at the girl happy for her.

tanya and her were a bit awkward as after ash kissed tanya they had dated for a month or so before breaking up where darcy then started dating him a week later. merlin i still hated the boy with passion.

"i'm going with ashley draw." melanie said speaking up. she had recently come out to the whole school accidently whilst drunk at some party which the hufflepuffs held and her and ashley had some wart of a thing.

i smiled at them as they all fantasied about their dates and how beautiful the night was going to be.

"what about you y/n who are you going with?" i smiled as i pushed my plate away.

"james potter."

"merlin melanie here are your galleons." i raised my eyebrow at the two deciding not to ask them about the bet and turning to face tanya.

"-we've been set up in some stupid arranged marriage like don't get me wrong he is cute but an arranged marriage." she rambled on her face turning red because of being so angry at points.

i leaned onto mel before whispering in her ear. "who is she talking about."

"you know my cousin. Anthony Nota." i nodded to reply. "Tanya's been setup in an arranged marriage with him. Parents were complaining that if she didn't keep the bloodline pure she would be disowned and you know how bad they are in pure blood family's."

i nodded. When people got disowned from pure blood family's it was very bad. They'd get removed from the family tree and no one would ever dare talk to them.

I knew of this from Sirius of course. He always said how much of an hellhole it was if he ever dared to go back home that's why James let him stay with them.

"Melanie i'm going to cry i mean your cousins great an all but he needs to learn how to smile." I chuckled at the girl trying to remember what the boy looked like.

pail skin, freckles, light brown hair and kind of tall. was all i could figure out. we all bursted out laughing before melanie spoke up.

"If i'm not maid of honour i will be offended."
