twenty six.

the night of the ball came quick and i was ecstatic. the girls and i had beautiful dresses which they brought days after we finished exams to celebrate. however my mother had sent me a beautiful silver and white dress that sparkled in the light.

it had long sleeves. with white lace. it was simply the most beautiful dress which i had ever seen. i had done my light brown hair up in half up space buns and my face had very little makeup. i wore loveheart hoops in my ears and i grinned at my appearance before turning and walking out of the bathroom.

"y/n you look stunning." i smiled looking at melanie. who wore a stunning yellow dress that made her golden eyes sparkle in the light.

i smiled. "thankyou."

i then turned to gabbie who wore a light blue dress. i smiled at the two before going over and linking arms with them.

"let's go girls." we walked out of our dorm and headed down to the great hall. none of the girls knew that i was supposed to be singing and i couldn't wait to see their reaction.

as we began to closen to the great hall i saw james stood next to ashley and georgie. i grinned before heading over to james linking my arm with him.

"hello james." smiling he turned to me placing a kiss on my cheek.

"you look utterly beautiful i simply can't breathe." i smiled before we headed in. As the clock struck 7 and most people finally entered the great hall Proffesor Mcgonagall walked over to the microphone.

I slipped from James's grasp and he smiled nodding as he knew what i was about to do. I walked backstages and slipped through the curtain so i was hidden telling the band what song i had chosen.

"Welcome all 5th year students and up to the Hogwarts Ball. Have a lovely evening and to start the night can we please clap as Y/N Lara-James Lupin will open the ball with a lovely song."

The curtains opened and the band began to play. Grinning at my friends and classmates who stood in the crowd.

"Love of my life, you've hurt me." i began softly. "You've broken my heart and now you leave me. Love of my life can't you see? Bring it back, bring it back. Don't take it away from me because you don't know what."

I darted my eyes to Ash. "what it means to me." I grabbed the microphone walking down the stage walking to James who stood at the front.

"Love of my life, don't leave me." i turned around and started walking back and forth slowly. "You've stolen my love, you now desert me. Love of my life? can't you see? Bring it back, Bring it back don't take it away from me... because you don't know what. It means to me."

i walked back up the stage sitting down on the middle chair. "You will remember. When this is blown over. Everything's all by the way. When i grow older. I will be there at your side to remind you. How i still love you."

"i still love you." the band in the back sung i chuckled quietly under my breath walking closer to the students. As they were dancing and i smiled to myself.

James however stood at the front mouth open and smiling brightly at me.

"i still love you. oh, hurry back, hurry back. Don't take it away from me. Because you don't know what... it means to me." I walked back up and stood near the band. The curtains started to scopes slowly as the song neared the end.

"Love of my life... love of my life. Ooh, eh. Alright." The crowd of students turned to
me and i chuckled before handing the microphone back to Professor Mcgonagall.

"Thankyou uh Y/N Lupin very beautiful. Now here's to our band." I walked down and hugged James.

"That was beautiful Y/N."

"I'm flattered James."

"Would you take this dance?" I smiled and walked with him onto the dance floor.

"i must say i'm not a good dancer james."

"well Y/N take my lead." i followd his footsteps and told him weird stories before we decided to stop dancing. we walked on over to our group of friends.

I saw lily and beside her sat someone i would've never imagined. "James we can not go sit over there." i said while pointing to Snape who sat beside Lily.

He pulled my hand out of the great hall. "Let's go to our favorite tree the balls getting a bit boring now." I smiled before following him to the tree.

as we reached it i sat next to him leaning my head on his shoulder. he wrapped an arm around me.

"you don't have to wait anymore james." i whispered. "finally accepted that i do love you." he turned to me his mouth gaped open.

"are you lying?"

"no why would i be?"

"You're Y/N Lara-James Lupin."

"I quite know that james." chuckling i turned to him pulling my face close to his to place a soft kiss on his lips.

smiling he grabbed my hands and looked me in the eyes. "well y/n lara-james lupin, will you be my girlfriend." i paused before i said.

"I would love to James."
