It was the day of the Yule Ball and Mason was the only one still in the dormitories. "Where is he?" Professor Snape asked McGonagall. "I'm sure he'll be down soon." She assured him. Mason was told many times to be down at a decent hour since the whole school was going to be there and Hogwarts was hosting the Tri-Wizard tournament this year and they needed to look good. Snape sighed and turned towards the drinks and got himself some punch. "Oh my god!" He heard a girl shout. He rolled his eyes and thought nothing of it. "Isn't that Mason Harold?" Another girl shouted. That's when Snape froze momentarily and turned around. He then saw his son. He stared at him with confused but also pride. His son was wearing a beautiful green suit. Snape was confused on why he wasn't wearing the black dress robes his brother had got him. Snape shook off the thought as girls started to surround Mason while he was trying too walk to the drinks table. "Ladies! Let's all calm down!" Mason smiled at them. Mason was a pretty popular guy. All the girls loved him, even Gryffindors fell for him. The girls all smiled at him in response. "I will talk to all of you but, for now, I would like a drink and to talk to my Potions Professor." Mason told them. They all nodded and backed up, allowing him to walk trough. He walked over to the drinks table and got some punch. "You look nice tonight." Snape said as Mason took a sip of his drink. Mason smiled at him. "Why thank you, Professor." Mason said. "What happened to the dress robes Toby gave you?" Snape asked him. "Didn't fit." Mason replied. "Plus, I didn't like them." He added and looked around. He saw a couple girls looking at him while giggling so he smiled and waved causing them to blush, wave back, and look away. "I'm going to talk to some people." Mason said and walked away. Snape just watched him walk away. "Hello Ladies." Mason smiled at them. "Hi Mason." They smiled. "What are your names?" Mason asked them. "I'm Amanda." The one with brown hair and brown eyes smiled. "I'm Sarah." The one with blonde hair and blue eyes said. "I'm Avery." The other one with brown hair and blue eyes said. Mason smiled. "It's a pleasure to meet you." He smiled at them. Even though he already knew of Avery.
He has his mother's kindness, that's for sure. Snape thought to himself as he watched his son talk with the girls. "He should've been put in Gryffindor!" A boy getting punch said. "He's a Slytherdor for sure." A girl said. "Slytherdor?" The boy asked. "Yeah, where you are in the house you belong in but you could fit perfectly in another house. For instance, with Mason, he belongs in slytherin where he is but he could fit perfectly in Gryffindor." She explained. "That makes since." The boy said before they walked away. Should Mason be in Gryffindor? Snape thought. No! He's where he belongs! He thought. "Professor?" A boy asked. Snape looked over and saw a boy, maybe twelve. "Yes?" He replies in his usual annoyed tone. "Do you know where Mason is? No one has seen him since he walked in." The boy said. Snape looked up and around. Sure enough, Mason was no where to been found. "What's your name?" Snape asked the boy. "Randy Williams." The boy said. "Well, thank you for informing me, Mister Williams." Snape said. The boy nodded with a small smile before walking away. Snape immediately went to find Minerva. "Professor Snape? What is the matter?" McGonagall asked as she saw the man with the look she's learned to be worry. "Mason is no where to be found." Snape told her. She looked up and frowned. "I'll help you find him." She said as she saw he wasn't there. The two of them left the great hall and started to walk to halls. Snape froze and stopped Minerva in the process. He put his finger to his lip before she had a chance to ask anything. She frowned but listened. That's when she heard it. "Stupid Mudbloods shouldn't be allowed in this school!" A boy was heard. "And What makes you think you can walk around all high and mighty?" Another was heard followed by a thud. Snapes eyes widened and he rushed around the corner.
He hurried over to the two boys who were laughing at his son on the floor spitting blood from his mouth. "What's going on here?!" Minerva asked as she and Snape made it to them. The two boys looked at her with wide eyes. "You two, follow me!" She said to them, who thankfully obeyed and followed her. Once Snape was sure they were gone, he knelt next to his son. "Are you okay?" Snape asked him. Mason coughed and sat up. "I'm fine." He said softly and looked at Snape. "I wanna go to your chambers." He said softly and looked down. "Alright, let's go!" He said and helped the boy off the ground. Snape handed him a handkerchief which the boy gladly accepted. He held the cloth to his bleeding nose. The two walked to the dungeons and into Snapes chambers. As soon as the door closed Snape hugged the teen.
"I'm fine dad." Mason mumbled. Snape pulled away and sat the boy on the couch. "What happened?" Snape asked him. "Nothing. They just followed me out and started calling me names and hit me a couple times before you and Grandma showed up." Mason said softly. Snape nodded and looked down. He frowned as he noticed some blood on the boys jacket sleeve forming the letter p. Snape looked up at him. "Is that all?" Snape asked. Mason nodded. "Take your jacket off." Snape order and stood up. Mason looked at him and shook his head no. "Why? Nothing happened!" The boy said. Snape glared. "Mason Harold, now." Snape snapped his fingers once and pointed to the door in front of him. The boy huffed and mumbled something under his breath before standing up and taking his jacket off. "Mason!" Snape said as he saw the boys arm. "It's nothing I promise!" The boy said as Snape grabbed his arm and rolled the sleeve up. Snape became angry seeing the words ᔕTᑌᑭIᗪ ᗰᑌᗪᗷᒪOOᗪ on his sons arm. "Mason, who did this?" Snape asked. Mason stayed silent. "Mason." Snape said stern. "Robert and Jackson." He said softly. Snape became more angry. Slytherins did this! "But it's fine I promise!" Mason said quickly after.
"This isn't okay, Mason!" Snape said loudly. Mason looked down. "How long has it been going on?" Snape asked him. Mason hesitated before answering. "Few years." He replied. "Next time something like this happen you need to tell someone. It doesn't haven't be me. You could tell Grandma or Grandpa! Hell, you could tell Hagrid!" Snape said causing the boy to smile softly. "Okay?" Snape asked. Mason nodded. "I will." Mason smiled and looked up at him. Snape shook his head lightly. "You are so much like your mother." He said softly. Mason smiled. "Can I stay here tonight?" Mason asked. Snape nodded. "Of course." He answered. Mason nodded and sighed as he saw his jacket. "Got a potion to remove stains?" Mason asked and held it up. "I raised you, of course I do!" Snape said and walked to his office. "Wow, rude!" Mason said as he followed. Snape smiled at him and kissed his head. Mason smiled back. "Love you too." Mason said.
Snape found the potion and helped Mason clean his jacket. After that they ate some dinner and Snape helped Mason with his homework.
