Hi guys, so my name's Emma and this is my first ever book. I hope you guys like it!

Ellie's POV

It's tomorrow, the day I will no longer see Marcus. To be honest, I have no idea how I'm going to cope without him. I know I'm not going to fit in in Essex, I mean, I'm a country girl! I'm not from the city, it's going to be so different. And I will never get to see Marcus again if mums job goes how she hopes.

I walked down the stairs and out the back door, looking at the sunset from the garden, which is just fields upon fields upon - you get the idea.

I sat down, knowing this would be the last time I'd ever get to cherish a view like this. After 5 minutes of staring into space I noticed a figure next to me. I looked up and was greeted by my best friend - my only friend - Marcus. He must've felt me staring at him, because his eyes met mine within 2 seconds.

He took in a deep breath, "everything will be okay, Ellie. I promise. I'll come visit as often as I can."

"Yea..." I trailed off. I couldn't look at him, see the pain I was putting him through.

"Hey, don't be like that." He said, positioning my face to look at him.

"You're my best friend, El. I won't let you forget about me!"

"Marcus. It's impossible to forget you!" I said, a little happier.

"Good," his eyes joint with mine and his white smile appeared. "That means we can do our tradition for one more night!" he laughed, embracing me in a hug. We both lay down, looking at the stars, pointing out shapes and laughing at the funny ones. Before I knew it, I was asleep.

I woke up to a noise outside my room - wait my room? I thought I fell asleep outside? Dad or Marcus must've brought me up

I reached over and turned my lamp on, turning my clock so I could see the time:

03:09

I still had ages before I needed to be awake!

"Shit! I woke her up!" someone angrily muttered from outside my window...which was open! Crap I need to close tha-

"Damn it! Why do I do this?!" the same voice whispered.

I took my candle out and grabbed my candle holder, getting out of bed and slowly - being careful not to make the floor creak - walked over to the window, sticking to the wall.

"Damn it damn it DAMN IT!!" whoever it was was getting closer to my window. I was so scared - what if they climb through and kill me?!

I looked around my room, seeing if I could find a better weapon, something to throw, when I saw my pebbles from the beach on my dresser. I silently sprinted over there, grabbed them and ran back to my window.

I peaked my head out and began throwing them at the person.

"Ouch! oww! Ellie it's m- OWW SON BITCH OUCH THAT HURT!! ELLIE STOP IT'S MARCUS!!"

Oh...I leaned out the window and slowly I began to recognise the figure. It was indeed Marcus...

"Ohmygod Marcus I'm so so sorry! I thought you were an attacker and you were gonna kill me and," I moved back so he could come in. "I'm really really sorry Marcus" He grabbed my hands and looked me in the eye.

"Hey hey hey, it's okay! I know you didn't mean it El, so shuddup!" We both began laughing.

"So wait, why did you even want to cone up here in the first place?" I asked. His eyes dropped to the floor.

"I-I wanted to say bye, because I know I won't be able to later, when you actually go..." I ran and gave him the biggest hug ever, why wouldnt you want to be best friends with this?!

A tear left his eye and began the journey down his face.

"I...I don't know what I'm gonna do without you. I've tried to stay strong - for you...but I can't. I'm gonna miss you so much El, so damn much!" I joined him with crying, except I was full on.

"I'm gonna miss you to, Marcus, you're my best friend and have been since the day I was born!" I said, wiping the tears off my face, doing the same to Marcus.

"Ellie...I- I need to tell you something. Something I've been hiding for a few years now." He said, sitting on the edge of my bed.

"Go on then," I encouraged.

"El, I-" A light appeared at the end of the hallway, signalling my parents were awake.

"Shit! Hide under my covers and be quiet," I panicked.

If mum or dad found out I had a boy in my room - even if it was Marcus - I would be in so much trouble. I jumped into my bed and grabbed a book from my side table, opening it to a random page and started reading it.

My door creaked open, followed by footsteps.

"Ellie? Ellie who is in here with you?" Mum said, not going round the corner to see me. The floorboards creaked and I was greeted by mum.

"Who were you talking to then?" I put the book down and looked up at her "I was on the phone, this person I don't know was calling me trying to get my details."

Mum gave me a suspicious look as if to say 'I don't believe you' and left.

"Okay Marcus, you can come out now" I whispered. He began shuffling but stopped when footsteps were outside my door again, and entered my room, again.

"Oh and Eloise, turn the light out in 15 minutes please!"

I woke up later that morning to a note on my bed side table, reading:

Hey, Ellie. I know you would be getting ready to leave by the time you read this but you need to know that...Im going to miss you SO much, words cant describe it! I hope you understand why I cant come to see you go. I love you El, stay safe. I look forward to seeing you next time,

~your Marcus

A tear rolled down my face and onto the letter as I read it. I ran to my balcony to see if Marcus was outside, but was greeted with his mother, sister and cousin Niomi.

Mum called me down and before I knew it, I was in the car, going to the city. And I didnt even get to say bye to Marcus.
