Mazie ran through the forest. Her bright amber eyes darted around, looking for her beloved wolf, Scar. Although she wasn't the most proud of the name she had given him, she treated him like a child.
She ran through the forest, her brown boots hitting leaves with loud crunches. "Scar?!" Mazie shouted, knowing he was near. She stopped to catch her breathe. She lay her pale hands over her hips. She sighed, no sign of him. Mazie took a dead bird from her satchel. "Scar? I have food!" She yelled, holding up the deceased bird.
She smiled as a black, tall, and muscular wolf came from the bushes. What separates Scar from the rest was that he was missing half a ear and had a huge scar going over his left eye. The fight it came from blinded his left eye. She stared at his beautiful silver eyes that looked at her with happiness.
"Alright, Scar... want this...? I mean you just went hunting. But still," Mazie smiled, handing the bird to him. He had no hesitation to take and eat it. He looked up, a grateful look crossed his face. She laughed, "For a muscular wolf... you're pretty sweet!" He finished the bird and sat next to her.
She sat on the nearest log and looked at the wolf, he wasn't necessarily a BAD wolf. Well, that's how Mazie explained it. She never believed Scar was evil or bad. The thing about Scar was he was protective of her, he loved her like a sister. She loved Scar back. Whenever Mazie was in trouble he would step in, growling and snarling.
Mazie has always had a promise with him. She can't go anywhere but home without Scar, he didn't like her leaving. She understood too, Scar was her best friend.
She pet his fur, letting it curl around her fingers. She smiled when she saw his tail wagging happily. She looked at the wolf's eyes again. "We're best friends, remember that, Scar! Nobody can take us apart no matter what they do!" She recited. She told him this everyday, right after he went hunting. He licked her hand and stood up. He tilted his head. She got up and followed him.
"Scar?! Where are we going? Home is the other way!" Mazie shouted after him. He looked back and barked. She groaned and followed. He led her to the top of a hill. "What is this...? I don't see anything," She asked, in complete confusion. He gestured toward the gates of the village. "Scar, there's nothing there." He growled. Mazie sighed and started walking back home. He ran after her and bit onto her sleeve. "SCAR?! What the heck! I have to get home! Nothing's there!" Mazie yelped as she tried to get the wolf off her sleeve. He growled again. "Not the time for tug of war!"
She got her sleeve loose. "Scar... please don't do that again! I promise I'll play more tomorrow!" Mazie said while walking home. Scar whined as she walked away.
