Theo's POV

As mom and I were walking back home I was telling her what happened.

"You see I found him with Mary Jefferson! He doesn't hang out with her at all!" I was so mad at this point, mostly because I was trying to hide my pain on the inside.

"I see... Maybe he was hanging out with her for a reason." I could tell my mom was trying to calm me down.

"A reason?"

"Yes! Maybe she was lonely?"

"Lonely? Mom she has many friends in school."

"Ok well I'm sure you'll figure it out. We're almost home!"

Once we came home I found dad in his office writing something. I approached him and looked at his messy desk. His desk was always organized so he must've been busy.

"Hey dad what's up with all the mess?" Looking at him then back at his desk.

"Ah it's alright there's just been a lot going on at work." He looked at the time. "Why are you here so early? You usually come back home at sunset."

"Oh I just uh- decided to come home early today." I didn't want to confess what actually happened.

"Well why don't you go help your mom with dinner?" He obviously knew something was up but didn't bother to ask.

"Ok!" I started heading to the kitchen and found my mom there. As soon as I entered I heard mom's phone make a ding.

"Who's that?"

She picked up her phone and read the text.

"Oh! It's Mrs. Hamilton she's inviting us for dinner tonight."

"Oh ok." I replied wondering why she invited us but, I didn't make a big deal out of it.

"We better get ready then! Go tell your dad and get changed."

"Dad! The Hamilton's invited us for dinner! Get ready!" I said as I reached his office.

"Alright I'll get ready." Dad got out of his office and went upstairs to get changed and I went to my room.

I decided to wear a plain white dress. It wasn't too fancy it was more like causal. I just wanted to dress nice and not go there in a t-shirt and leggings. I also tied my poofy hair in a tight bun before going downstairs.

"You ready kiddo?" Dad said smiling at me.

"I sure am." I said smiling back.

The Hamilton's didn't live that far from us so we walked. I walked ahead of my parents and I could hear them talking about something that I couldn't quite hear because I was so far ahead. My parents both dressed nicely as well. We reached their house and I rang the doorbell and waited patiently. I heard some voices on the other side and soon enough someone coming down the stairs. Then, Angelica Hamilton opened the door.

"Hey Angie!" I said smiling at her.

"Hi Theo! Welcome to our home!" She smiled back at me.

"Welcome Mr. and Mrs. Burr." Angie said and invited us inside.

"Thank you Angie where are your parents?" Mom said.

"My mom is cooking dinner and my dad is in his office." She said pointing at the kitchen then the office.

"Thank you dear." Dad said heading towards the office while mom went to the kitchen.

"Come on Theo! Let's go to my room!" Angie said heading towards the stairs.

"I'm coming!" I followed after her.

We entered her room and it was all tidy. I sat down on her bean bag she had.

"Soooo..." I said.

"Why'd you guys invite us for dinner?" I said looking at Angie as she sat in the other bean bag.

"I'm not really sure actually I found out right after my mom invited you." She replied.

"Oh." We heard some voices in the room next door.

"Is that Philip?" I asked.

"Yep. He invited his friend Will over. Though, I'm pretty sure he's leaving soon."

"Well speaking of Philip do you know why he was hanging out with Mary?"

"Wait Mary? As in Mary Jefferson?!" She looked concerned and confused. As a reply I nodded.

"I had no idea about this! But Philip would never do anything like that..."

"I know that's what I need to figure out."

Philip's POV

I just finished telling Will Mulligan what happened at the park.

"You're in a sticky situation." Will said.

"I know..." I started thinking how I was going to tell her.

"How am I going to tell her? I know I broke her heart." We heard the doorbell and I knew it was Theo.

"That's her isn't it Philly?"

I nodded and I heard Angie go down the stairs then back up again about a minute later with someone else following. I saw Will look at the time.

"I should get going I'll see you at school."

"Bye Will!" I watched him leave.

I started thinking. How am I going to tell her the truth? Do I tell her now? Well now is a good time, she should be in Angie's room. I got up and went out of my room and went to Angie's. I took a deep breath and knocked on her door.

"Come in!"

I opened the door and saw Theo and Angie sitting on bean bags, talking.

"Hey Theo can I talk to you real quick?"

"Uh- sure." She looked at Angie before exiting the room. I took her to my room and we both stood in the center of the room.
