Darkness. Imprisionment. Ice. Death. That's all there is in our world. I once knew what it was like to feel the sunshine on my face and to smell flowers. It was so long ago. It seems more like a dream then a distant memory.
All the boys were taken first. My older brother was one of them as was my baby brother who was only 4. Now he's alone. Lost and alone. If he was a lucky one he is dead. I hope everyday he is dead.
The girls were supposed to go to camps. To 'feed and breed'. That's where I was heading with my 7 year old sister.
Our parents were already gone. My sister and I had an unspoken agreement never to talk about them. Until lately that is where I had to make it a spoken agreement, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Our 'camp bus'n never made it to the camps. I'm not sure why not. Well if it did it wasn't with me or my sister. I felt a shake as something hit the vehicle, and felt the heat near my face as the fire broke loose.
My sister often weeps for the other girls who never made it out. Not me though. All I care about is that Layla made it out alive. Alive and still funning. We barely made it off the bus, and before they could stop me, I grabbed a bag of provisions and we high tailed it into the woods. The provisions only lasted a month at least, but we still have the water purifier.
I suppose you're wondering who this cold-hearted escapee is. I am Summer, and I am supposed to save the world.
