Reasons that will (and will not) keep you motivated
My English teacher recently introduced us to this cancer blog. It deals with a woman's journey through her struggle. It was funny, interesting, and bittersweet.
It got me thinking. Here I am, holding cookies and candy to my face, angry at myself for eating. I want to be thin, I say. I need to get up and get active. But its too hot outside to do anything and I don't have the right equipment inside to do it. I make excuse after excuse and am filled with such self loathing I end up eating a light meal at school and binge eat when I get home.
None of these things are going to help me stay focused. I have to remember my goal. So, while I was reading this online blog, I got to thinking. This is a woman battling for her life, having been told once that she may never run again. There are so many people that cannot do the things I can, or am too lazy, to do and I am just taking for granted. I should be thankful and strive to be healthy because I can. And I will.
I was also thinking of some other reasons that keep us motivated. Looking up pictures of skinny girls for motivation doesn't last long. Trust me. I've done it with my friends, and by the end of the day we always find our way to the fridge. Personally, I think you need more of a reason than to just look good, unless you are a very commited and dedicated person (which sadly I am not LOL). The reason is not to compare yourself to other girls.
So, some other reasons to stay on track:
-I want to say my weight out loud
-I want to walk up the stairs without feeling out of breath
-I want to run that upcoming marathon
-I want to be healthy
-I want to turn heads for all the right reasons
-I want to fit into the cute clothes
-I want to hear those words, "Have you lost weight?"
This is a life changing process and if you've noticed, all those marks started with "I". Be sure to do this for you and not because someone else says so. No one can define you. You are a beautiful person on the inside and it's time people get to see the real you :)
