Golden Oak University campus
End of Finals weekWednesday couldn't be more excited. Her end of the semester project was turned in, her room was cleaned up and valuables packed. She was free for about a month before the real grind began. But currently, Wynnie was checking her emails. One email stood out among the rest.
From the desk of Dr. Melissaire Devereaux:
To Whom It May Concern:
Dear Wednesday, it has been brought to my attention that your end of the semester project must be discussed by the Board of Trustees, effective immediately.
Please report to the President's Office within one hour of receiving this message.
Dr. Devereaux
What the fuck?! Wynnie wanted to pass out right then and there. She grabbed a skirt and flats and was utterly disgusted by her hair, but it is what it is at this point. She just wanted to get on her flight home to see her grandmother, sister and nephews. Everything else was irrelevant to her.
About thirty minutes later, Wednesday was coming up the stairs of the President's Office. The secretary was expecting her and sent her right in. When she arrived, all conversation ceased. It was worth noting that all of the older Minnelli's were there: Aries, Diane, Amiri, and Antonio. Although only Missy was a member of the BOT.
"Wednesday! Welcome!" Missy turned on her heel. She held up Wynnie's proposal project with excitement. The door opens again, and Cairo, Adonis and a darker skinned man slide in to the last three seats at the end of the table.
"Uhm, thanks..." she sits down nervously.
"Now, I read your proposal and-"
"That's not a proposal." Wednesday immediately corrects her. "That's the first part of my hypothetical project. Nothing more."
"I'm aware of what the actual assignment is, however, it's written like you intend to act upon your findings."
"But I'm not." Wynnie was not backing down. Diane was impressed.
"I want you to pursue this." Missy challenges her.
"Hold up, pause. You want me to do what now?" Wednesday moves her fro from in front of her ear to hear her properly. "Nah..." the door to Missy's office opens.
"I knew she wouldn't go for it, Missy. I don't know why you doing this." A small woman in snakeskin red bottomed shoes and a pretty voice turned the room's attention to her.
"Shut up Camille." Missy rolls her eyes. "This is Dr. Camille Pierroux. She's going to facilitate this mission with you."
"So, you're serious?" Wednesday couldn't believe it.
"Yes ma'am. You are not coming back to Golden Oak for a while." Missy congratulated her. She rounded the table for a hug. "Make us proud." She whispered.
Wynnie stood up and thanked them for their time. "But I have a flight to catch."
"Where you going?" Cairo asked her when they got in the hall.
"Home...to my family." She didn't give him a backward glance. Cairo wrapped his arms around her anyway. "Get off me." Wynnie suddenly pushed him away. Her guard was up, and her eyes were blazing.
"Damn, I just wanted a hug." Cairo was offended. And rightfully so...
"Just leave me alone Cairo. Damn!" she was close to her dorm. Cairo was now really upset. He hoisted the small girl up once they'd made it to her room.
