Sophie’s Pov
Stress is an essential component to life. Without stress we wouldn’t be able to perform our best and get a clear focus on what needs to be done. Usually I’m doing okay but today is another story. It just seemed like everything was going wrong. Benji had another one of his throat aches and was not wanting to go to daycare today but I had a large board meeting that I couldn’t skip on today. I checked his throat for swelling but I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. Still I made sure that Bertolt kept an extremely close eye.
“Calm down, he’ll be fine.” Levi says, placing a hand on top of mine again.
It’s really hard to believe that we’ve been going out for almost six months now. It feels like we’ve been together for longer than that, it’s been nice. He’s been a constant now in not only mine but Benji’s life. Hell he even managed to somehow get Jean and Marco to start thawing toward him.
More and more he was staying over (on the couch) and I was almost getting spoiled with breakfast already made in the mornings for me. Not to mention I finally caught Levi up to speed on working my coffee machine. Yes, he was truly integrated now.
“I’m just worried. He’s been having more throat aches than I feel good about. I think I need to take him into the pediatrician as soon as possible.”
“We can drive him today after the meeting if you really feel so worried about it.”
It was interesting about how Levi seemed to just adopt Benji into his life, “Alright, that sounds good actually.”
We make it to work and we’re heading to go up to the board meeting right away. Levi and I enter into the room and all eyes are on us. I don’t know why though considering we’re not late. The two of us take our seats and the meeting kicks off. Already I’m feeling bored.
Erwin was going on about the retreat that was going to happen soon and I’m almost certain that I’m not going to go on it anyways. I don’t want to leave Benji for that long. Besides Benji doesn’t really know his grandparents all that well. It’s not like I don’t allow my parents to come and see him but we almost live across the nation from one another. Not to mention when they found out that I was pregnant and Nac left me they didn’t handle it well and our relationship was a bit damaged after that.
My parents come and visit on all of the important holidays or I took Benji to Wisconsin for holidays to spend with the whole family. Last time though he was far too young to actually remember them. Hopefully Erwin won’t be too upset that I’m dropping out of this one. I don’t think he should be.
Levi nudges my foot with his and I snap to attention to see everyone looking at me, for my input no doubt. I push down the color from my face, “S-sorry could you repeat that?”
“I was asking whether or not you knew anything about getting a second interview with Two Steps From Hell.” Erwin says.
I shrug, “Honestly if you want one then you’re going to need to get it soon. Jean and Marco are getting ready to head overseas to meet back up with Farlan and Isabel in England.”
“Okay contact them for me and we’ll get one last group interview for the next issue.”
I nod my head, “Alright I see what I can do.”
“Now comes the next issue, which is troubling to say the least.” Erwin begins. We all look up at him to see his brows furrowed. This isn’t good; Erwin always pulls that face when really bad news is coming.”
“Lately there’s been a drastic shift in our numbers. Somehow a similar company to ours has been publishing articles nearly identical to ours a day early. With the early releases in their papers it makes us look like we’re copying their stories and putting it out as our own. This has caused a drop in our readers and subsequently our numbers.”
