Hey, I am Syana Walsh. I just moved to Florida from California. I had a very traumatizing thing happen to me, and it caused me to go mute, I have not spoken since. Now my parents want me to run from it. So, here I am. In Florida, running away from what haunts me.
♡
"Syana! Get up. It's time to go to your new school." My mom says. My mom had to change jobs, so did my father. That is due to us having to move. I actually feel bad. They loved their jobs.I get out from underneath my warm blanket then go to my closet to grab an outfit.
Once I have clothes, I go to the bathroom to shower. I get in there, I turn the shower on setting it to the right temperature then strip my clothes off and get in the shower, letting the water run over my skin, making my bones unstiff.
When I get out of the shower, I dry my hair and body then put on my clean clothes. I brush my teeth then blow dry my hair and brush it. My hair goes halfway down my back and I have natural red hair, that looks good with the freckles that goes along my cheeks and nose.
I walk downstairs to see my twin brother, Jai, already eating his breakfast. I sit down in front of a plate then I start eating.
"Are y'all excited for your first day at your new school?" My mom asks.
"Ready as I'll ever be." I sign. On the other hand, Jai just nods his head.
When we finish eating, Jai and I ride to school in his car. I haven't got my drivers license yet. I am 17 but I am kind of scared to drive.
As we pull into the school, there are kids out in the parking lot conversing with other kids.
I step out then my eyes meet the piercing blue ones of a guy. He is tall, muscular, but not too muscular, he has brown hair, and has no emotion laying on his face. As I look at him, he is looking back at me, he then brings a cigarette up to his lips, breathing the smoke in.
I show a look of disgust on my face. He throws it down on the ground then stomps on it. He looks away as someone walks up to him talking to him.
I continue my way into school but before I enter I look back at the guy but he is no longer there. I turn back around then see him walk into the school.
I get my schedule from the office then find my locker. As I am about to leave and go to first block, a girl comes up to me. She has shoulder short blonde hair and grey eyes.
"Hi! I haven't ever seen you around here before." The girl says.
"I just moved here." I sign.
"Oh. Sign language. I know how you do that. Well I am Samantha. Do you need any help with getting to any classes?" She asks.
"I'm Syana. Sure." I sign to her. I give her my schedule then a wide grin comes to her face which causes dimples to show.
"You have every class with me. Come, I'll show you." She says. I follow her then she goes in a class as do I. She sits at the back of the room, I find a seat right next to her.
"So, where did you move from?" She asks.
"California." I sign my answer.
"Really? I love California!" She says with a wide smile plastered on her face. I laugh a little.
"What did you learn signing for?" I sign my question.
"It just seemed cool so I decided to learn it." She answers then the teacher tells the class to settle down, we are about to start class.
"Class, we have a new student today." The teacher answers. "Please stand up Syana." I do as she says then I look around the room and my eyes meet those piercing blue ones again. He still has no emotion on his face.
"Lets let her feel welcomed. Tell us something about you." The teacher says.
"I like to draw." I sign. I do not like the attention everyone is giving me. The teacher hands me a marker so I can write on the board. I write what I signed then sit back down in my desk.
"That's nice. Well, lets start with the lesson." She says.
As class goes on, I keep finding myself looking at the boy with the blue eyes, and he is always looking right back at me.
"That is Reece Vik." Samantha whispers.
"Huh?" I sign.
"The guy that keeps looking at you. He is the schools bad boy. He does not open up, he is like a rock." She says. I nod my head letting what she is saying register.
As soon as the bell rings, Reece jumps out of his seat giving me one last glance and leaving the classroom. Samantha shows me the way to a few more classes, then lunch is here.
I walk into the cafeteria and get a plate of food. When I turn to walk to an empty table, I bump into someone, making my food fly onto the person I bumped into.
"You little scum!" The person shrieks. "You got food all over my shirt!
"I am so sorry, I had no idea you was right there." I sign quickly. She watches my hands then a smirk plays on her face.
"You better watch it." She says then storms out of the cafeteria. I go to an empty table and then Samantha comes and sits across from me.
"That girl, is Maddison. She thinks she is all that. She thinks she runs this school. I hate her. She is like that with everyone. She also tries to get in every guys pants." She says. Uh oh. I just messed up. She is probably going to try and get revenge. I messed with the Barbie of the school.
When school lets out, I walk to Jai's car and wait for him there. As I scan the parking lot, my eyes again, meet with Reece's. He's just standing there leaned up against his car staring at me.
Finally Jai comes out then we head home. Reece is so weird. He keeps looking at me for some reason. I haven't seen him do one bad thing, so is he really the bad boy Samantha makes him out to be?
